JOB TITLE Student Experience & Orientation Specialist JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The Student Experience & Orientation Program Specialist works to strategically implement programming that supports student outcomes, student experience, and academic rigor. The Student Experience Program Specialist manages a group of student employees and volunteers. JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates facility reservations, technology needs, and staffing schedules in collaboration with campus partners for New Student Orientation.
  • Oversees the logistics of all orientation sessions, ensuring alignment with established learning outcomes and operational plans; serves as an on-site resource
  • Supports the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of orientation leaders.
  • Supervise the Orientation Leaders, providing active mentorship, performance evaluation, and timely intervention regarding behavioral or academic concerns.
  • Designs and implements a structured training curriculum for Orientation Leaders.
  • Plans and delivers student life programming that promotes student engagement and success, supporting the full student experience from admission through graduation.
  • Maintains an accurate and comprehensive calendar of student life events, programs, and meetings to support effective planning, communication, and resource allocation.
  • Lead the promotion of events or programs through the use of social media platforms or other media and communications.
  • Collect data through a variety of means, e.g., interviews, questionnaires, to provide feedback for management in assessing the effectiveness of student leadership activities.
  • Cultivates and sustains collaborative relationships with Admissions, Academic Affairs, Student Engagement, administrators, faculty, staff, students, and community stakeholders to advance divisional and institutional priorities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in higher education from an accredited institution of higher education or a related field.
  • One year of related professional work experience.
  • Experience managing complex and detailed projects/tasks.
  • In lieu of a degree, any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities KSAs:

  • Excellent human relations and communications skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities, to set and meet deadlines.
  • Proven ability to organize and host events
  • Skills in effective and persuasive interpersonal communication skills to gather information, resolve problems, and assess situations.
  • Ability to coordinate major projects.
  • Preferred knowledge of issues, trends, policies, and best practices that are relevant to student affairs.
  • Preferred Knowledge of the greater Lakeland area.

Required Licenses, Certifications, and/or other specific requirements of law:

  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • This position requires a criminal background check, which may include a Level II screening as required by Florida Statute *435.04.
  • This position is subject to federal and state privacy regulations.

Normal Work Schedule:

This position is salary exempt. The normal work schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.; however, occasional weekends and evenings may be required.

Target Hiring Salary: $50,200-53,000, commensurate with experience.
