Forward-Deployed AI Application Engineer

Macquarie Global Services
life insurance, vision insurance, parental leave, long term disability, 401(k), remote work
United States, Texas, Houston
Apr 03, 2026
Join the front-office fundamentals strategy and analytics team of Macquarie's highly successful North American Power/Gas/Emissions (NAPGE) commodity trading business, where you will be fully embedded in a fast-paced environment and your work will have an immediate, high visibility impact.
While Macquarie offers hybrid working for many of our roles, this role does require 5 days a week on-site in Houston.

At Macquarie, our advantage is bringing together diverse people and empowering them to shape all kinds of possibilities. We are a global financial services group operating in 31 markets and with 56 years of unbroken profitability. You'll be part of a friendly and supportive team where everyone - no matter what role - contributes ideas and drives outcomes.

We are seeking a mid-to-senior level Forward-Deployed AI Application Engineer to build an AI-native analytics platform. You will architect agentic workflows that enable our commodity trading analysts to build models, tools and dashboards entirely using natural language. Most developer roles ask you to build things. This role asks you to build the system that builds things. Your success will be measured not just by the applications you create, but by how effectively you enable others to create their own.
While you'll draw on strong technical foundations in front-end frameworks and application architecture, the core of your work will be configuring AI agents (particularly Claude Code) to do the building. You'll create the skills, tools, and design standards that ensure every application the AI produces is consistent, high-quality, and deployment-ready - without requiring end users to write code or follow complex templates. You will leverage a deep understanding of AI models and training systems to anticipate points of failure (e.g. hallucinations) and implement effective guardrails based on business usage patterns.
While this role will initially focus on dashboards and other front-end analytics tools for NAPGE, it will quickly expand to more advanced applications and modeling. A key aspect of the role will be to stay abreast of the latest news and research within the rapidly evolving AI landscape and identify opportunities to expand what's possible.

  • Deep understanding of and demonstrated experience with Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar AI coding agents as primary development tools
  • Strong understanding of modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Vue.js, Node.js, Svelte, Angular) - enough to architect what the AI builds, even if you're not hand-coding daily
  • Familiarity with Flask, FastAPI, Django, or similar for serving applications and APIs
  • Familiarity with charting and dashboard libraries (e.g., Plotly, D3.js, Recharts, Dash, Streamlit)
  • Ability to design front-end systems that integrate with dynamic models, data pipelines, and APIs
  • Exposure to a variety of tools, platforms, and technology stacks - we value versatility and informed opinions over deep allegiance to any single framework. A key part of this role will be to recommend and implement the most appropriate front-end frameworks, visualization libraries, and supporting technologies for our team.

We love hearing from anyone inspired to build a better future with us, if you're excited about the role or working at Macquarie we encourage you to apply.
