We are seeking an experienced, solutions-driven Senior HR Generalist to join our team in Salt Lake City, Utah to support US Drilling Services. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role responsible for owning day-to-day HR generalist work across the region, with a strong emphasis on employee relations across field and professional-level populations. The Senior HR Generalist operates with a high degree of independence, applies sound judgment, and drives matters to closure-managing workflow, documentation, and follow-through while ensuring consistent, compliant, and positive employee experiences. The position also leads regional administrative execution and serves as a key owner of HR data integrity and reporting within our HCM (Dayforce) system. In addition, this role provides supervision to two HR Coordinators, including day-to-day direction and support.

Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations



  • Serves as the point of contact for employee relations matters for field and professional-level employees; partners with leaders to assess risk, recommend options, and drive timely, consistent resolution aligned to policy, practice, and legal requirements.
  • Leads complex and sensitive investigations, including investigation planning, interviews, evidence review, and ensuring clear documentation and reporting.
  • Prepares investigation summaries and recommendations; partners with HR leadership and Legal as appropriate; ensures corrective actions are appropriate, consistently applied, and implemented to completion.
  • Tracks employee relations matters, identifies and analyzes employee relations trends; delivers manager coaching and recommendations and supports targeted training and process improvements to strengthen engagement and reduce risk.


HCM System Management



  • Serves as a regional owner for HR data integrity in Dayforce HCM; ensures accurate and timely entry/updates, establishes controls, and resolves data issues independently.
  • Builds and delivers HR reporting and insights (headcount, turnover, ER case trends, time-to-fill support as needed) to inform decision-making; identifies root causes and recommends actions.
  • Creates job aids and provides training/coaching to managers, employees, and HR partners on key HCM processes; recommends workflow improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency.


HR Administrative Function



  • Directly supervises two HR Coordinators within the regional administrative function; prioritizes and assigns work, provides coaching and training, ensures service levels and confidentiality standards are met, conducts reviews, and supports cross-training and development.
  • Maintains accurate and audit-ready employee records and confidential investigation files in accordance with company standards, retention requirements, and applicable laws.
  • Owns regional onboarding administration from offer acceptance through day-one readiness (systems setup/HRIS entry, required forms, policy acknowledgments, and orientation coordination), ensuring a smooth and compliant start.
  • Owns regional offboarding administration, including separation documentation, exit interviews, coordination of final actions, and record retention; flags risk items and ensures timely closure.
  • Conducts periodic audits of HR data and processes; identifies compliance gaps, implements corrective actions, and escalates systemic risks with clear recommendations.
  • Interprets and supports implementation of HR policies and programs; communicates changes, supports manager adoption, and provides practical guidance to ensure consistent application.


Employee Engagement & Support



  • Partners with leaders to execute engagement and culture initiatives; uses feedback and data to recommend practical actions that improve retention and the employee experience.
  • Provides consultative guidance to employees and managers on HR matters, setting clear expectations and ensuring consistent, respectful interactions while maintaining confidentiality and appropriate boundaries.
  • Executes against defined priorities and strategy set by leadership; independently executes assigned work, elevating only complex/enterprise-level issues with clear context and recommended options.
  • Partners with Talent Acquisition and hiring leaders on recruiting and staffing activities as needed, including requisition support, selection guidance, and offer/transfer coordination.


Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field (equivalent experience considered).
  • SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.
  • 6+ years of progressive HR Generalist experience with significant employee relations responsibility (field/operations environment strongly preferred).
  • Experience working with Oracle and/or Dayforce or similar HRIS systems
  • Strong knowledge of employee relations best practices, compliance, and legal requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels and handle highly sensitive matters with professionalism and discretion.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities well in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated expertise leading complex, end-to-end investigations, including interviewing, evidence assessment, documentation, and defensible conclusions/recommendations.
  • Highly self-directed with strong judgment and ability to prioritize and deliver outcomes with minimal supervision; communicates proactively and escalates appropriately with recommended options.
  • Ability to travel up to 25-30% of the time
