Summary- Requires measuring, forming, scribing, trimming, fitting, aligning, assembling and setting-up of sheet, tubular, machined or formed parts (prepare material for welding) and the straightening and aligning of assemblies and parts after welding. Requires tack welding of metal parts and/or assemblies using standard welding methods

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, must be able to perform a variety of job duties including, but not limited to:

• Plans sequence of operations, layouts for experimental and prototype parts
• Competent with surface plate layouts using angle blocks, parallel bars, gages, calipers, micrometers and dial indicators.
• Troubleshoots tooling, details, and planning when existing conditions cannot make an acceptable part
• Develop manufacturing process for fitting and tacking of complex assemblies
• Can fabricate an assembly without an AJ
• Follow all Senior policies and procedure.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree; or 5 years of related experience and/ or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skills:

• Language: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply a general understanding to carry out detailed, written and oral instructions.
• Mathematical Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

• Other Abilities: Must be able to read and interpret blueprints.

Tools used:

• Air Motor Tools, Hand Tools, Gages, Calipers, Micrometers, High Gages, Cutters, Hand Shears, Expanders, Grinding Wheels, Clamps, Saws, Heli-Arc Welding Machines and Torches.

Materials used:

• Aluminum, Inconel, Titanium, Stainless Steel. All materials come in form of sheets tubular stock, machined and formed parts.

Qualifications:

• Tacking Certificate
• Qualification of Certified A and:
• "Q" Certified Operator Stamp
• Must have the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, shop drawings/diagrams, work orders and memos. Must have the ability to read blueprints.
• Maintain minimum output of 75%, since mechanic will be working on prototype parts

Annual Target Salary = $43,680.00
