Overview

The Legal Recruiting Specialist supports the firm's graduate and legal recruiting efforts, with responsibility for coordinating end-to-end recruiting processes for law students and lateral candidates. This role works closely with recruiting leadership, attorneys, law schools, and candidates, and aims to deliver a seamless recruiting experience from initial outreach through onboarding.

The Specialist plays a key role in campus recruiting (including on-campus interviewing and the summer associate program) as well as lateral recruiting, ensuring processes run efficiently, communication is clear, data is accurate, and candidates receive a high-quality experience.



Responsibilities

Graduate & Campus Recruiting

    Coordinate all aspects of on-campus interviewing, including interviewer scheduling, candidate logistics, interview materials, receptions/dinners, and follow-up communications.
  • Support law school recruiting strategy by working with recruiting leadership on school-specific plans, outreach initiatives, and candidate engagement throughout the academic year.
  • Review and process law student applications (including 2L/3L write-ins and LLMs, as applicable) and manage applicant status updates in the recruiting system.
  • Assist with DC Hiring Committee meetings, including preparation of materials, tracking decisions, and follow-up on action items.
  • Track and report recruiting data and metrics for law schools and internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate law student outreach events, working with attorneys and law school contacts.
  • Assist with planning and administration of the summer associate program, including onboarding, event logistics, evaluations, and ongoing summer associate support.

Legal / Lateral Recruiting

  • Coordinate recruiting for lateral associates and other legal hires, including scheduling screening and callback interviews and managing interview logistics.
  • Communicate directly with candidates and legal search firms, responding to inquiries and ensuring timely, professional follow-up.
  • Prepare interview materials, track feedback, and assist with monitoring the status of open searches.
  • Support the offer process, including coordination with partners, conflicts, the office of the general counsel, HR, and other internal stakeholders; assist with offer and rejection communications.
  • Coordinate candidate travel arrangements, pre-arrival communications, and onboarding logistics.
  • Maintain accurate applicant data and hiring records in the firm's recruiting systems.

Reporting, Systems & General Support

  • Track recruiting statistics and assist with reporting, surveys, and industry submissions (e.g., NALP, Chambers, Vault).
  • Create, update, and maintain recruiting reports and dashboards (including viRecruit reports, as applicable).
  • Collaborate with Marketing on recruiting materials and promotional items for campus and lateral recruiting.
  • Stay current on legal recruiting trends, best practices, and peer firm developments.
  • Provide general recruiting support and assist with special projects as assigned.


Qualifications

  • 4-5 years of law firm recruiting experience, with exposure to campus/graduate recruiting and/or lateral legal recruiting.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; professional and confident interacting with candidates, attorneys, and external partners.
  • Detail-oriented with strong data tracking and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and see projects through to completion while collaborating effectively as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required; PowerPoint a plus.
  • Experience with viRecruit or similar applicant tracking systems preferred.
  • Willingness to work extended hours during recruiting season and attend recruiting events as needed.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree required.
