YOUR IMPACT

We are seeking a sophisticated and collaborative Charitable Officer to join our Goldman Sachs Trust Company Charitable Services team. This role is designed for a professional with a deep background in the charitable services, including extensive knowledge of tax-exempt structures as well as the IRS rules and regulations that govern charitable vehicles. This role will sit at the intersection of wealth management and social impact, helping ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families navigate the complexities of private foundations, charitable trusts and donor-advised funds.

The ideal candidate is a client-facing expert, comfortable with sales, who can help facilitate complex philanthropic goals and has experience with the administration of private foundations and donor advised funds. You will work closely with internal trust officers, portfolio managers, and external legal counsel to ensure our clients' legacies are preserved and their charitable intent is realized.

HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL



  • Strategic Advisory: Act as a point of contact for our high-net worth clients regarding their philanthropic mission, providing guidance on grant-making strategies and long-term legacy planning.
  • Fiduciary Oversight: Manage the administration of private foundations and DAFs helping provide guidance around state and federal regulations.
  • Client Relationship Management: Lead client meetings across the country to review charitable impact, family meetings and philanthropic discussions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a "team player" within the trust company, partnering with tax specialists and legal teams to review governing documents and tax filings (e.g., Form 990-PF).
  • Travel: Engage in occasional travel to meet with clients and participate in sales meetings


EXPERIENCE & SKILLS WE'RE LOOKING FOR



  • Education: Bachelor's degree required; a J.D. or LL.M. in Taxation is highly preferred and considered a significant plus.
  • Experience: 7+ years of professional experience in the charitable sector, specifically within a trust company, family office, donor advised fund or community foundation.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Proven track record managing Private Foundations and Donor-Advised Funds as well as working directly with clients
  • UHNW Experience: Demonstrated success in managing relationships with UHNW clients and understanding the unique sensitivities of multi-generational wealth and philanthropy.
  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to present complex information clearly to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with the tax implications of various charitable vehicles (CRTs, CLTs, Private Foundations etc.) and the regulatory landscape of the IRS and tax-exempt giving.
