Position Purpose:

The primary function of the Strategic Finance Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Engineer is to translate business requirements into clear technical specifications and solutions for a wide variety of PowerBI reports and dashboards which help to analyze key areas of the business to ensure all leaders and managers are able to make informed decisions. This position will work with operations in the field and corporate leadership to create meaningful analysis tools using all facets of Microsoft BI. This position will be expected to be able to autonomously identify reporting needs and opportunities and deliver actionable solutions. The position will be expected to see projects through from inception to distribution of deliverables which will require gathering requirements, crafting SQL queries and ultimately visualizing data using PowerBI.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable BI solutions, including dashboards, reports, and semantic data models

  • Translate complex business requirements into clear technical specifications and data solutions

  • Partner with business stakeholders to identify KPIs, metrics definitions, and reporting needs

  • Develop and maintain dimensional and/or semantic data models

  • Define and manage business logic, calculations, and metric definitions

  • Leverage SQL extensively for data transformation, analysis, and performance tuning

  • Use PowerBI to create data models and visualizations from complex source data in a format that is actionable by users of various roles and proficiencies

  • Conceive, scope and create new reports and dashboards to help subsidiaries analyze their businesses and understand best practices

  • Lead initiatives to define and enforce data governance, quality standards, and best practices across the BI ecosystem

  • Responsible for the self-service initiatives including developing the data model and structuring the results in a way that is understandable by users

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to leadership by translating business objectives into data-driven solutions

  • Collaborate with Data Science teams to integrate predictive analytics and machine learning insights into BI solutions

  • Support the team's data analysis capabilities by helping to visualize and explain complex data sources and AI / ML models

  • Partner with other departments within the business to help design enterprise-wide solutions

  • Other duties as assigned

  • S Director, Business Intelligence

  • This position does not have direct reports

Travel Requirements:

  • Less than 5% expected travel

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position in an office environment 70% of the time

  • Will occasionally move about inside the office to access files, office machinery, etc

  • Must be able to operate basic office machinery

  • Must be able to communicate with team and management and be able to exchange accurate information in these situations

Working Conditions

  • Working in an office environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 7-10+ years of related work experience

  • Strong Microsoft office skills

  • Must be proficient in Excel, Visual Basic preferred

  • Must be proficient in SQL Server

  • Must be proficient in Power BI and M/Power Query/DAX

  • Proficiency in API integration and automation for real-time data pipelines

  • Background and credit check required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft PL-300 or equivalent

  • Python experience, especially as it related to data analysis and machine learning

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree with emphasis in Business Administration, Finance or Analytics

Preferred Education:

  • Master's degree or advanced degree in related field

Minimum Years of Work Experience:

  • 7-10+ years of related work experience

Preferred Certifications:

  • Certified Business Intelligence Professional (CBIP)

  • Certified Analytics Professional (CAP)

  • Google Business Intelligence Professional Certificate

  • Business Intelligence and Data Analyst (BIDA)
