WHAT YOU'LL DO:



  • Assist corporate and project management in determining what types of projects to bid, strategies and techniques
  • Review all final estimate packages to ensure accuracy and completeness, prior to formal quotation
  • Participate in presentations / interviews to corporate management and clients.
  • Provide technical assistance in negotiating contracts, change orders, etc. as required
  • Lead prepurchase of equipment with vendors
  • Assist in the preparation of studies, alternative materials, methods, recommendations, and cost estimates as required
  • Development of detailed system estimates based on programmatic or conceptual narratives.
  • Create bid invites and send out to chosen subcontractor lists.
  • Attend Jobsite Walk Throughs to review existing conditions
  • Review plans, specifications RFI's, schedules, and other documents to understand a project's requirements.
  • Perform takeoffs using OST (onscreen takeoff)
  • Populate estimate in Excel or Sage
  • Create detailed estimates without the use of specialty mechanical or electrical estimating software.
  • Create scope sheets for vendors and subs - Including detailed general requirements not otherwise documented for MP/FP trades
  • Review scopes in meetings with subcontractors, design teams, and clients - including negotiating scope modifications to suit the project needs for MP/FP trades
  • Support Value Management pricing.
  • Mentoring and assisting estimators, junior estimators and interns as needed



WHAT YOU BRING:



  • B.S. in either Mechanical engineering or related field, and/or an equivalent combination of 15+ years of technical training and construction experience
  • Experience should be in the local construction market
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the regional construction market, union subcontractors, and a keen understanding of costs and pricing
  • Knowledge of construction contracts is a must
  • Excellent organizational, supervisory and decision-making and problem-solving skills are essential
  • Experience in construction estimating and related functions preferred
  • Ability to work successfully in a team environment
  • Must have excellent time management and prioritization skills
  • A strong attention to detail, high level of ownership, organizational skills, controlled sense of urgency, and the ability to manage multiple, competing priorities
  • Advanced management or technical training preferred
  • OSHA 10 Certification preferred, if not active, will be required to attain upon hire
  • Demonstrate integrity, respect, and excellence in their work
  • Fluency in Excel
  • Fluency in English
  • Understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems and how they work in a variety of settings including hospitals, dorms, utility plants, labs etc.
  • Willingness to learn and take responsibility as a lead estimator for applicable projects



BENEFITS:

  • The expected salary range for this role is $160,000 to $245,000 per year. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, skills, and qualifications.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
