Job Overview:

The Buyer is an integral part of a dynamic and a highly communicative cross-functional team environment working together to build a seamless supply chain. This position performs duties related to day-to-day inventory replenishment planning and purchasing from multiple vendors (Domestic and International). A Buyer's primary goal is to ensure the highest level of customer service while achieving high inventory turnover at the lowest total cost. This position will work closely and collaborate with the Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Production, Customer Service, Distribution/Operations, Product Management, Accounting and Vendors.

Responsibilities


  • Manage inventory/service level fill rates by maintaining appropriate stock levels- on hand, safety stock, open purchase orders, transfer stock to have the right inventory at the right place at the right time for the customer.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders according to company purchasing policies and procedures including meeting supplier prepaid freight/PO value minimums and/or maximize container utilization.
  • Confirm purchase order information (price, estimated delivery date, order quantity, unit of measure etc.). Rack all purchase orders and update the estimated delivery date on a real-time basis with Order Acknowledgements
  • Expedite PO's as needed with various departments and suppliers to ensure material availability.
  • Analyze material availability issues and take immediate corrective action.
  • Maintain and update all relevant planning/MRP data within SAP. Maintain accurate material master, vendor master and purchasing data in SAP.
  • Support the sourcing team and product management team on all product life cycle related issues to include new product launches, transitions and end of life in order to ensure product availability and reduce the likeliness of obsolete inventory.
  • Collaborate/leverage product sourcing team on purchasing activities including, but not limited to, issues related to sourcing, pricing, MOQ (minimum order quantities), vendor dispute resolution, etc.
  • Conduct vendor lead time and performance analysis. Participate in vendor performance review and act as vendor liaison
  • Resolve Accounts Payable issue related to vendor shipping discrepancies, pricing discrepancies etc. using Basware software.
  • Work with the warehouse teams to ensure timely receipts of goods in transit and accurate on-hand inventory records in SAP and reconciliation of receipt discrepancies
  • Source data from multiple sources, prepare reports, and create/utilize planning tools (Excel, Access) to analyze large amounts of data for planning/purchasing activities


Requirements:


  • 3+ years of purchasing experience in manufacturing
  • 3 + years relevant experience in inventory management, purchasing, production planning, can be substituted for degree
  • Prior purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability and willingness to work fully onsite
  • Ability to manage high email volume and multitask quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • ERP systems knowledge required
  • MS office proficiency required, advanced level preferred

    • Purchasing & inventory planning

    • MRP, safety stock, reorder-point, ABC analysis

  • Ability source data from multiple sources and analyze large amounts of data

  • Ability to collaborate with cross functional teams



Preferences:


  • Bachelor's degree preferred

  • APICS CPIM certification preferred

  • SAP experience preferred



Physical Requirements


  • Ability to stand/walk/sit for long periods of time.

  • Work environment includes inside and outside of an office environment.

  • Ability to communicate information effectively through oral and written presentation. Can convey detailed instructions to others.

  • Able to operate a computer and other handheld technology devices.




Pay Range:

The pay range for this role is $70,000 - $80,000. The pay range considers a wide range of factors that include a candidate's skills; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and geographic location.
