Revenue Cycle Specialist - Billing

Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin & Upper Michigan (LSS)
Finance Department | Hybrid (Every Thursday and inoffice as needed)

Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin & Upper Michigan (LSS) is seeking a Revenue Cycle Specialist - Billing to join our Financial Services team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate, timely claim submission and compliance across multiple funding sources while supporting our missiondriven programs.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and submit claims to Medicaid, Medicare, commercial insurance, county/state funding, grants, and selfpay payers
  • Investigate and correct claim rejections related to eligibility, demographics, and coding
  • Verify insurance coverage and update eligibility and authorizations as needed
  • Maintain accurate billing records, generate statements, and document claim activity in the EHR system
  • Collaborate with program staff, QA, and AR FollowUp to resolve billing issues and denial trends
  • Review unbilled and authorization reports to identify and resolve billing delays
  • Assist with monthend close and support financial audits
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, payer guidelines, and organizational policies


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required; Associate's degree or higher in accounting or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of healthcare or behavioral health billing experience required
  • Working knowledge of ICD coding, EOBs, and electronic billing processes
  • Experience with EHR and medical billing software
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical, organizational, and problemsolving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and collaborate across teams
