Job Title: EHS Manager/Project EHS Manager

Position Summary

The EHS Manager leads the development, implementation, and oversight of environmental, health, and safety programs across construction projects. This role provides strategic direction, compliance oversight, and day-to-day support to project teams to ensure a safe and environmentally responsible work environment. The EHS Manager partners with operations leadership, subcontractors, and field personnel to drive a strong safety culture and reduce risk across all phases of construction.


Key Responsibilities Leadership/Safety Culture/Compliance

  • Lead, mentor, and support EHS staff including Coordinators, Representatives, and project-level safety personnel.
  • Promote a proactive, engaged safety culture through leadership involvement and consistent communication.
  • Set EH&S goals, metrics, and performance expectations for projects and
  • Influence and coach project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors on EHS
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA construction standards, state/local safety regulations, environmental regulations, and client-specific
  • Oversee internal and external audits, jobsite inspections, and compliance
  • Serve as primary contact for regulatory agencies, insurance representatives, and third-party auditors.
  • Lead investigations for injuries, near misses, environmental incidents, and property
  • Conduct root cause analysis and ensure corrective actions are implemented and verified.
  • Track trends and develop prevention strategies based on leading/lagging indicators
  • Conduct regular job-site visits to validate field compliance, coach workers, and address emerging hazards.
  • Oversee hazard identification, risk assessments, and implementation of control
  • Support planning for high-risk construction activities and major project milestones.


Safety Program Implementation

  • Manage construction-specific safety programs including fall protection, equipment and crane operations, excavation safety, confined space entry, energized work, and site
  • Review and approve project-specific safety plans, JSAs/JHAs, lift plans, and high-risk activity plans.
  • Develop and conduct EHS training for employees, supervisors, and subcontractors (orientations, toolbox topics, hazard-specific training).
  • Ensure training records, certifications, and compliance requirements are
  • Facilitate safety meetings, leadership briefings, and subcontractor coordination


Qualifications
Education & Experience

  • 5-8+ years of construction safety experience, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Preferred a Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent industry experience).
  • Strong knowledge of DOT, EPA and OSHA construction standards, and industry best
  • Preferred Certifications: CSP, CHST, CUSP, ASP, CHMM, OSHA 30/500, First Aid/CPR,


Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and field
  • Proficiency with EHS management systems, reporting software, and Microsoft
  • Valid US driver's license


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk, climb, and stand for extended periods on active construction
  • Ability to lift 25-50 as needed.
  • Ability to wear required PPE (hard hat, safety boots, high-visibility vest, gloves, fall protection, respirator) if required.
  • Ability to travel to multiple job sites as required (daily or weekly).
