Specimen Management Training Supervisor - ESO - San Juan Capistrano, CA, Tuesday to Saturday, 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM

Pay range: $68,640 - $90,860 / year

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

The Training Supervisor is responsible for developing, reviewing and coordinating training activities in all phases of Specimen Processing, Tech Ops and Problem Resolution for Esoteric Operations. The Training Supervisor analyzes performance metrics and reports Dashboard metrics in collaboration with peer Esoteric Operations Training staff across multiple sites to ensure standard processes. Develops training content, competency, oversees new hire, department Onboarding, process mapping and acts as subject matter expert to improve quality systems (includes LIS conversion) and improved workflow. The position is responsible for providing input to supervisors, department trainers, QA auditors and Problem Resolution Techs regarding training updates and annual competencies. The Training Supervisor works in conjunction with Client Services and Commercial leadership to provide ongoing training support to hospital based processing employees.



Responsibilities:

  • Plans and conducts training in department procedures, company policies, government regulations, problem handling techniques, soft skills, technology, and new hire training.
  • Works with the Specimen Processing leadership to define and execute strategies to improve customer experience and exceed service goals; provides feedback to leadership on training progress.
  • Coaches and trains new hires and experienced staff to improve productivity, reduce operating expenses, retain customers, and reduce employee attrition. Facilitates learning by varying delivery style and adapting to the needs of the learner.
  • Reviews Specimen Processing Standard Operating Procedures Manual on an annual basis and ensures departmental compliance. Identifies need for revisions and/or additional SOPs as indicated.
  • Identifies and defines present and future training needs and methodologies by conducting needs analysis.
  • Maintains all training materials and required employee documentation timely.
  • Provides support to department leadership for special projects and new business initiatives.
  • Attends meetings and training sessions, including external training classes where required.
  • Prepares presentation of key performance indicators; identifies program success and areas of opportunities
  • Represents Esoteric Operations in enterprise-wide Best Practice meetings
  • Participates in staff development and collaboration with manager and other supervisors in Talent Review and Career Path development
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



Qualifications:

Required Work Experience:

5 - 10 years' experience in a laboratory environment (Specimen Processing) or a production setting

Physical and Mental Requirements:



  • Position requires data background with abilities to enter 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes/hour
  • Able to sit or stand for long periods
  • Handles multiple tasks simultaneously and works in a production environment


Knowledge:



  • Demonstrated proficiency and understanding of all job duties and SOPs related to the Specimen Processing Department, Tech Ops Department and Hospital Processing functions, and how the Pre-Analytical area impacts the testing laboratory
  • Adherence to good safety habits while working in a biohazard environment


Skills:



  • Ability to explain training material in a clear and accurate manner
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines in a fast-paced production environment
  • Ability to adapt to changes in procedures and the training of those procedures quickly
  • Strong leadership, customer service, and interpersonal skills that foster a positive environment
  • Proven track record of working across multiple teams, with technical staff, and other departments
  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to exercise good judgment when resolving problems

Education



  • Associates Degree (Preferred)
