Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Construction Coordinator to support our growing Transportation practice. This role is vital to ensuring the successful execution of construction projects by managing administrative tasks, maintaining strict adherence to deadlines and budgets, and upholding the standards outlined in contractual agreements. The ideal candidate will excel in organization, follow-through, and taking the initiative to drive project operations forward effectively.

This position is an onsite position that will sit out of the FDOT office in Sanford, FL.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

    Monitors the construction process. Ensures that projects are completed according to contract specifications.
  • Attends various project update meetings with contractors, vendors and other stakeholders, providing input as needed.
  • Maintains and updates work management software (Jira)
  • Communicates and reports project progress and conflicts.
  • Receives questions and concerns from project stakeholders, providing answers where possible and referring more complex issues to senior team members.
  • Conducts regular site visits relating to construction work efforts.
  • Supports coordination efforts to ensure construction activities are carried out in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Participates in professional and personal development aligned with career goals.
  • Performs all job functions in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and company policies and procedures.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Fundamental to working knowledge of FDOT construction processes.
  • Excellent time management and project coordination skills.
  • Familiarity with FDOT as-built plans and standard design plans is preferred.
  • Fundamental knowledge of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) is preferred.
  • Fundamental knowledge of Jira work management software is preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Team-oriented with ability to work independently.
  • Self-motivated with attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to shift attention from one task to another in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Skills and knowledge must be commensurate with required experience and job level

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or relevant discipline preferred
  • 0-3 years of project coordination/administrative experience
