Qualifications

Education and Experience: Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school and experience equivalent to one years of full-time work in one or a combination of the following areas: retail, restaurant, hospitality, or recreational industries; clerical accounting work, or work within a role at a Tennessee State Park.

Substitution of Education for Experience: College coursework from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Park Management, or any Hospitality Management related field may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of one years.

NSQs:

Certain operations within Tennessee State Parks may require specific trainings/certs related to specific operations: i.e., Hunters Safety, Boating License, etc.

Overview

This position involves assisting the marina manager in various aspects of marina operations and leading the fuel dock operation. The responsibilities include cleaning and maintaining the fuel dock, marina, boat slips, and surrounding areas. The individual will operate the fuel dock and assist in hiring, scheduling, and training seasonal staff. Other tasks include performing maintenance related to marina slips and supporting the Marina Manager with various operational and administrative duties.

Responsibilities

  1. Provide Lead and Operate the Park's Fuel Dock Operation
  2. Clean and Maintain the Fuel Dock, Marina, Boat Slips, and surrounding areas
  3. Provide Excellent Customer Service for Marina and Park Guests
  4. Serve as a point of contact to the Marina Manager
  5. Provide Supervision of the Park's Seasonal Fuel Dock Staff
  6. Develop, Implement, and Maintain Standard Operating Procedures, Accurate Documentation, and Records.
  7. Support Other Workgroups Within the Park
  8. Assist with Department Reports, inventories, and Inspections

  1. Basic knowledge of principles, equipment, and chemicals involved in cleaning work
  2. Ability to communicate effectively by writing and speaking to others.
  3. Ability to listen to and understand information presented through both spoken words and written sentences
  4. Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with ones body, arms, and/or legs. Able to lift, push, pull, or carry objects
  5. Skilled in managing ones own time and the time of others.
  6. Basic skill in monitoring/assessing performance of self or others to make improvements or take corrective action. Basic skill in teaching others how to do something
  7. Basic skill in troubleshooting to determine causes of operating errors in equipment.

TN Driver Standards

State of Tennessee positions that may involve driving responsibilities require candidates to meet the following minimum driver qualifications:

  • A valid driver's license
  • For the past five years, the candidate's driver record must not have record of the following violations: driving under the influence (DUI), reckless driving, license suspension for moving violations, more than 4 moving violations.
