Title: Senior Engineer, Interconnection

Location: New York, NY (100% remote work allowed)

Employer: AES Clean Energy Services, LLC

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Interconnection Project Engineer will support and lead, when necessary, all interconnection activities through the full life cycle of development and construction of projects. The position will support the IC Regional Lead and other internal stakeholders leading to the successful execution of both new and acquired projects across the United States; Support of greenfield development: review transmission system analysis, lead the identification of interconnection agencies and procedures, help lead preparation and filing interconnection requests including leading internal and external parties on preparation of technical materials, provide viability feedback to the IC Regional Lead and other internal stakeholders to support any financial and project approvals needed; Interconnection study process: lead and support the review and analysis of utility study reports; help lead tracking and reporting of results throughout process; help lead negotiation and execution of interconnection agreements and engineering and procurement agreements; Implementation of portfolio projects: lead assistance of internal groups to complete deliverables required by transmission owners to construct interconnection facilities including integrating schedules of Transmission Owner into project construction schedule; Support and lead project due diligence efforts, identify existing and potential red flags for project acquisitions.

QUALIFICATIONS: Job requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field and 30 months

of experience in any occupation involving renewable or traditional energy development.

Job requires 30 months of experience in each of the following:

  • Dynamic modeling, load flow, reactive power, and stability analysis using tools like SIEMENS-PSSE, TARA, and PSLF, with the ability to review system data, assess fault scenarios, and manage simulations to ensure grid stability, optimization, and performance;
  • Preparation and review of base cases using PSSE and PSLF software tools for various Battery and Renewable Energy Resources Projects;
  • Preparing and reviewing high value professional reports and interconnection package equipped with single line diagrams, site plans and power flow sliders using PSS/E and Microsoft Visio tools;
  • Automated power systems transient software, PSCAD through Python scripts, in order to run the simulations efficiently and concurrently;
  • Open Access Transmission Tariffs, Transmission Expansion planning and Generator Interconnection Procedures for various utilities and ISOs;
  • Running and reviewing Contingency analysis in accordance to NERC Compliance using TARA software; and Built software solutions using Python for automating power systems software PSSE and PSLF.

SALARY: $118,500 to $148,325/Year. Standard Corporate Benefits provided.
