  • Doctor's Office: 321 Poplar Drive, Suite C
  • Petersburg PSC: 34 D Medical Park Blvd


Assignment Duration: 3-Month
Work Schedule:

  • Monday / Wednesday / Thursday: 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM
  • Tuesday: 6:00 AM - 1:00 PM
  • Friday: 6:00 AM - 9:00 AM


Work Arrangement:

Onsite (Float within same vicinity)


Position Summary:

The primary function of a Phlebotomist is to perform assigned duties including blood collection, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations across multiple sites.


Background & Context:

  • Coverage for FMLA leave
  • Potential for extension or conversion to a different site


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge samples, and maintain records
  • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures
  • Clearly explain venipuncture and specimen collection processes to patients
  • Demonstrate proficiency with straight and butterfly needles
  • Understand and follow physician orders accurately
  • Match lab requisitions with specimen tubes
  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required
  • Ensure 100% accuracy in test requisitions and labels
  • Package and transport specimens appropriately
  • Maintain specimen integrity per temperature and protocol requirements
  • Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations
  • Attend annual department training
  • Answer calls and communicate lab results as needed
  • Perform blood draws, specimen processing, and order entry across hospital, doctor's office, and PSC


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid Phlebotomy certification (as required by the state)
  • Minimum 6 months of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2-4 years of overall experience preferred

  • Ability to work independently and handle "hard sticks"


Working Conditions & Physical Demands:

  • Majority of shift spent standing (with 30-minute lunch break)
  • Float between hospital, doctor's office, and PSC
  • Hospital includes behavioral health patients (staff escort provided)
  • Work independently at PSC or with a team at hospital
  • First two weeks of training and orientation at Petersburg PSC


Additional Information:

  • Full-time: 40 hours/week
  • Daily blood draws: approximately 25-30
  • Patient population: pediatrics and geriatrics
  • Calm and composed personality required (behavioral health environment)
  • Reliable transportation required for local travel between sites


Vaccination Requirements:



  • TB
  • Hep B (can be declined)
  • Color vision required
