Overview

The Facilities Mechanic will maintain, repair, and troubleshoot building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical equipment, to ensure safe and efficient operations. The role includes performing routine inspections, conducting preventive maintenance, and responding to service requests to reduce downtime and support overall facility operations.

The candidate selected for this position must successfully qualify for and progress through the career path training program to Mechanic A.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Perform general maintenance and upkeep of buildings and facilities using basic hand and power tools.
  • Perform basic electrical, lighting, wiring, plumbing, pipefitting, and carpentry tasks.
  • Conduct basic troubleshooting and maintenance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
  • Perform snow and ice removal using manual and powered equipment and complete related maintenance activities.
  • Demonstrate a working understanding of electrical, plumbing, and mechanical diagrams, including blueprints, maps, and schematics.
  • Utilize basic PCbased systems to access, retrieve, enter, and verify jobrelated information.
  • Support the operation and maintenance of company facilities, including warehouses, garages, office spaces, production environments, and associated outdoor areas.
  • Work collaboratively and constructively within a team environment while supporting a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace.
  • Execute all work safely and efficiently in alignment with the organizations commitment to operational excellence.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma/GED
Relevant Work Experience
  • 3-5 years Relevant experience in the building trades, including the ability to interpret schematics, blueprints, and engineering prints
  • Experience utilizing electronic work management platforms, including Maximo, to enter time and update work orders
  • Knowledge and skill in multiple building trades, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, masonry, and painting
  • Ability to successfully complete all required asbestos training and certifications within required timeframes
  • Experience with rotating equipment and mechanical repair is preferred

  • Other: C-92 Supervision of Flammable Combustible Liquids 180 Days Preferred and

Physical Demands
  • Ability to respond to system emergencies
  • Able to work in all weather conditions, i.e. excessive heat and/or cold
  • Perform extended driving through heavy traffic and severe off-road conditions
  • Perform heavy manual labor, i.e. push, pull, and lift up to 50lbs
  • Ability to carry tools and materials when climbing ladders and scaffolds, and entering confined spaces
  • Ability to work in inclement weather and adverse conditions (i.e., excessive heat, cold, noise, confined spaces)
  • Ability to work with, and in, the vicinity of high voltage and/or other high-energy systems
  • Ability to be approved to wear and use either a full or half-face respirator, without facial hair or other conditions that may interfere with the seal, in accordance with OSHA regulations
  • Stand, walk, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach for the duration of the workday
  • Ability to use hand tools and operate heavy machinery, i.e. jackhammers
  • Wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), i.e. fire-retardant clothing and safety harnesses
  • Work with equipment with a manufacturer weight rating of 350lbs
  • Use equipment with a maximum weight rating of 375lbs when wearing and/or carrying 25lbs of clothing and equipment
Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
