Senior Maintenance Technician - E&I - JLL

What this job involves:

As a Senior Maintenance Technician - E&I, you'll be the technical backbone ensuring our pharmaceutical client's manufacturing operations run safely, reliably, and in full regulatory compliance. You'll own the electrical, instrumentation, and control systems that power both production and critical utilities-from medium voltage distribution to sophisticated Building Automation Management Systems (BAMS) and Process Control Systems (PCS). Your expertise in preventative maintenance, advanced troubleshooting, and precision calibration directly supports life-saving pharmaceutical production. This role demands technical excellence paired with unwavering commitment to cGMP documentation standards, making you an essential partner in maintaining the highest quality and safety standards in a highly regulated FDA/EMA environment. If you thrive on complex technical challenges and take pride in keeping critical systems operational 24/7, this is your opportunity to make a real impact.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain low voltage (up to 480V) and medium voltage (up to 15kV) electrical distribution systems, motor control centers, switchgear, and electrical components of HVAC and utility equipment (chillers, boilers, air compressors)

  • Perform routine maintenance, repair, and precision calibration of critical process instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, level sensors) using calibration standards and test equipment while maintaining audit-ready documentation

  • Provide advanced troubleshooting support for BAMS controllers, network devices, PLCs (Siemens, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley), and HMIs to diagnose control loop issues, interpret ladder diagrams, and optimize control sequences

  • Execute electrical installations, modifications, and upgrades in strict adherence to NFPA 70 (NEC) and NFPA 70E safety standards, following established risk assessment and change control procedures

  • Complete all work orders and maintenance logs accurately in the CMMS while strictly adhering to cGMP, SOPs, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and Arc Flash safety protocols

  • Assist in generating and reviewing technical documentation, Standard Operating Procedures, and change control documents to ensure continuous compliance and operational excellence

  • Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24/7 emergency support for critical manufacturing and utility systems

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10+ years of hands-on experience in industrial maintenance with specific focus on electrical systems, instrumentation, and controls in a highly regulated environment

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Life Sciences or Pharmaceutical manufacturing industry with proven track record working under cGMP and regulatory scrutiny (FDA, EMA) - this is mandatory

  • Expert knowledge of low-voltage industrial electrical systems, motor controls, and medium voltage distribution systems (up to 15kV)

  • Advanced proficiency troubleshooting BAMS (Siemens Apogee/Desigo, Johnson Controls Metasys) and/or industrial PLC/DCS platforms

  • Exceptional ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), loop diagrams, and control logic

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work in confined spaces and at heights, and stand/walk/climb ladders for extended periods in varying environmental conditions (mechanical rooms, clean rooms)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree or Vocational/Technical training in Electrical Technology, Instrumentation, or Industrial Controls

  • ISA CCST (Certified Control System Technician) Level I or higher, or equivalent industry certification

  • Strong understanding of metrology principles and practical field calibration techniques with hands-on experience using decade boxes, field calibrators, and loop calibrators

  • Experience modifying control logic, ladder diagrams, and functional specifications to resolve system faults and optimize sequences

  • Demonstrated track record maintaining accurate calibration records and technical documentation for successful regulatory audits

  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills with ability to collaborate effectively across operations, quality, and engineering teams in fast-paced pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
