The Department of Immunobiology is seeking highly motivated applicants for the position of Research Technician III in the Kuhns Lab. This position is a collaboration with Dr. Van Doorslaer. It requires a high level of enthusiasm, dedication, and drive for applicants interested in studying the molecular mechanisms underlying T-Cell activation and cell fate decisions using a novel evolutionary immunology-based approach (pubmed search: Kuhns MS). | Duties & Responsibilities |
- Perform independent, moderately complex lab experiments with minimal supervision. Collect and analyze data, and document the results of experiments. Record information and maintain detailed records of experimental procedures.
- Assist with experiments of other research staff.
- Apply extensive knowledge of research operations to adapt established protocols, SOPs, and methodologies to fit specific research experiment requirements, and recommend modifications to existing procedures based on observed outcomes and operational needs.
- Use data to prepare reports in a clear and efficient manner for use in grant submissions and publications.
- Present results to PI weekly in one-on-one meetings and periodically in lab meeting.
- Ensure compliance with lab procedures, protocols, and quality control.
- Assist with and organize the set-up of the laboratory experiments and equipment and animal enrichment.
- Maintain, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation and lab equipment.
- Order reagents, perform mouse husbandry, and perform lab chores/maintenance as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Organizational and record-keeping skills are essential.

| Minimum Qualifications |
- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Basic tissue culture, molecular biology, biochemistry, and mouse husbandry/handling experience are preferred.
- Computational background is encouraged.
