Perform full cycle gas pipeline and gas plant accounting for assigned asset

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform monthly plant accounting close, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
  • Analyze and process plant statements (e.g., POP, Keep-Whole, Fee-Based)
  • Reconcile inlet vs. outlet volumes, including residue gas, NGLs, fuel usage, and shrink
  • Calculate and validate net residue MMBtu and NGL gallons for revenue recognition
  • Account for and track plant fuel, compression fuel, and lost & unaccounted for (L&U) volumes
  • Support revenue recognition for gas sales, NGL sales, and processing fees in accordance with contracts
  • Perform imbalance accounting, including tracking over/under-deliveries by producer or customer
  • Review and validate component settlement calculations (ethane, propane, butane, etc.)
  • Partner with Commercial and Operations teams to interpret contract terms and resolve discrepancies
  • Investigate and explain volume and revenue variances month-over-month
  • Assist with system inputs and allocations in systems such as Quorum, TIPS, or similar
  • Maintain pricing and other rate scale escalations in TIPS
  • Reviews cash application on a monthly basis.
  • Expert in revenue recognition regulations.
  • Processing prior period adjustments.
  • Prepares monthly variance analysis and explains fluctuations.
  • Performs special projects that require advanced knowledge of midstream revenue accounting as needed.
  • Leads period closing activities, including preparation and review of flux analysis.
  • Participates in audits and in inquiries from other functions and/or outside parties.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by completing technical training, review of industry publications, and relevant guidance.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior staff and new staff on complex processes.

Other Job Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

  • Eight (8) years minimum experience in midstream revenue accounting.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Gas measurement (MCF, MMBtu, gallons)
    • POP, Keep-Whole, and Fee-Based contracts
    • Shrink, fuel, and plant recoveries
  • Experience with plant statements and volume reconciliation
  • Ability to proactively identify and solve complex problems with little assistance or guidance.
  • Ability to solve problems accurately and exhibit exceptional proficiency in data management, including spreadsheet proficiency.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, managers of other departments, officials, and the public.
  • Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities.
  • Very familiar with integration between division orders, marketing production accounting, transportation and POP fees.
  • Outstanding administrative and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with specific ability to translate complex operational information into an organized and presentable manner.
  • Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems (e.g., SAP PRA) and midstream systems (e.g., Quorum TIPS)
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, large data sets)

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year university or college with a degree in accounting and equivalent experience.
