Overview

Gilbane is seeking a Claims Director to oversee all insurance claims and Claim staff across the Enterprise. The Director is responsible for forecasting, management, reporting, and closing claims across all insurance lines. This role will sit primarily in the office.

Responsibilities

    Oversees all Claim staff for their respective geographies and insurance line responsibilities
  • Aligns Senior Claims Managers to leverage capabilities across the claims team
  • Ensures claims are reported timely and managed through completion
  • Reviews progress of all open claims regularly with the Senior Claims Managers
  • Participates in Claim Assessment Reviews and approves Regional Claim Assessment Forms for Gilbane Insurance Group (GIG)
  • Reviews the Enterprise Watchlist monthly to ensure accuracy and alignment with GIG forecasts and claim assessment forms
  • Oversees the use of Gilbane's claim database systems for claims management and reporting
  • Assists with management and forecasting of GIG's reserves
  • Interacts with Operations leadership to develop and implement strategies for claim mitigation and recovery optimization
  • Develops, implements, and communicates consistent claim procedures across Claims staff
  • Maintains key relationships with carrier adjusters, insurance brokers, and claim advocates to manage settlements and negotiations
  • Interacts and works with outside counsel and expert consultants as needed
  • Approves claim settlements up to defined authority levels
  • Assists in coverage review, as needed, to ensure better protection across our insurance product lines
  • Informs the Claims Director and GIG Department Head of all Claims matters and obtains approvals as needed
  • Responsible for the career development and coaching of team members
  • Interprets and translates the organizational strategy, ensuring team understanding of their role in accomplishing strategic goals
  • Fosters a positive and inclusive work environment to motivate and engage team members


Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in claims or other relevant industries
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Advanced written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead a multi-disciplined team through detailed and complex issues that may arise
  • Ability to coordinate efforts involving individuals from different geographic areas as well as external partners
  • Ability to understand issues quickly and follow through with a resolution
  • Advanced customer service skills
  • Advanced problem solving, multi-tasking, planning, and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel and other critical RMIS software is essential

Salary to be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience of the applicant, as well as the internal equity and alignment with the team.

This ranges from $175,000 - 250,000 plus benefits and retirement program.
