Department Information

Georgia Tech Human Resources (GTHR) serves the Institute and its more than 14,000 employees through strategic counsel, employee engagement, and essential human capital management operations. As the people's unit, GTHR is engaged throughout the employee's lifetime at Georgia Tech. Our team works with sensitive employee information and assists in the management of complex employee issues. Professionalism and confidence are of the utmost importance within our team.
What we do:
  • Process payroll and maintain employment data for approximately 14,000 active faculty, staff, and students
  • Strive to attract, recruit, and retain the best talent in the marketplace.
  • Provide immigration, labor, and tax support required for foreign national faculty and staff to work at Georgia Tech and support employees performing services overseas.
  • Leverage a market-driven compensation structure to attract and retain employees.
  • Advise employees and managers regarding work performance and conflict management.
Job Summary

Business Analysts evaluate business processes, identify opportunities for improvement through technology solutions, and collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements. They analyze data, develop functional specifications, and facilitate communication between business units and Information Technology teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
Exhibit the capability to execute intermediate tasks within specified skill areas. Display intermediate understanding of internal procedures. Operate under general supervision, handling assignments that may be diverse and occasionally challenging. Contribute to team decisions and fulfill team responsibilities. Clearly and accurately interpret and communicate information. Demonstrate intermediate problem-solving abilities.
Demonstrate solid professional knowledge and expertise. Manage assignments, projects, and programs of limited scope and complexity, making decisions within specific guidelines.
Responsibilities

Job Duty 1: Conduct interviews, workshops, and reviews to elicit, clarify, and validate business needs, objectives, and constraints for Information Technology projects and initiatives.
Job Duty 2 : Develop and maintain business requirements documentation, including user stories, use cases, process flows, and functional specifications, to guide Information Technology development and implementation.
Job Duty 3 : Analyze and model data, workflows, and systems to identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and enhancement in alignment with business goals.
Job Duty 4 :Facilitate communication and collaboration between business users, Information Technology teams, and project stakeholders to ensure shared understanding, alignment, and successful project outcomes.
Job Duty 5: Perform gap analysis, impact assessments, and feasibility studies to evaluate proposed Information Technology solutions, identify risks, and recommend mitigation strategies for decision-making.
Job Duty 6: Support testing activities, user acceptance testing, and system validation to validate requirements, verify functionality, and ensure alignment with business needs and expectations.
Job Duty 7 : Provide input on Information Technology solution design, configuration, and implementation, ensuring that business requirements are met, and solutions deliver value and address key business challenges.
Job Duty 8 : Stay informed about industry trends, technology innovations, and best practices in business analysis, applying continuous learning and knowledge sharing to drive process improvement and professional growth.
Job Duty 9: Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document business requirements, processes, and systems to enable effective Information Technology solutions and improvements.
Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, or IT-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Four to five years of job-related experience
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a Business Analyst supporting Human Resources-related systems, data, or business processes is highly preferred and should be weighted accordingly during candidate evaluation.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing data from learning management systems (LMS), including engagement and completion metrics, to inform requirements, reporting, program evaluation, and system improvements; or
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing learning management system (LMS) data and mapping HR data elements to define and validate target learner groups.
Proposed Salary

Pay Range:$63,158-$87,000/yr.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
This job requires a working knowledge of standard documentation processes, business system architecture, and associated technologies. Skills in data organization and analysis, problem solving, systems documentation, and report writing, as applied within assigned system(s), are required, as are skills in cross-functional communication between functional user and technical groups.
