Job Summary
The Director of Application Development - Digital Products will lead and support the growth of externally facing digital products and services that extend TDIndustries' value proposition to customers, building owners, and facility operators. This role combines deep construction and facilities industry expertise with a product management mindset to develop innovative digital solutions in building performance, smart building analytics, customer portals, and connected services. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of launching successful digital products in the built environment space.
Essential Duties
Strategic Leadership
- Support and execute the digital product strategy for customer-facing solutions that differentiate TDIndustries in the MEP Construction and Facilities services market
- Lead development of digital products including customer portals, building performance dashboards, smart building analytics platforms, and connected equipment services
- Drive product innovation in controls/smart building solutions, leveraging IoT, building automation integration, and data analytics to deliver customer value
- Partner with Construction, Facilities, and Building Services business units to identify digital product opportunities that solve real customer problems
Technology Leadership & Delivery
- Establish product management discipline, including market research, customer discovery, roadmap development, and go-to-market planning
- Build and lead product development teams skilled in modern software engineering, UX design, and agile delivery methodologies
- Develop APIs and integration capabilities that connect TDIndustries' services with customer systems, BAS platforms, and third-party applications
- Create revenue-generating digital service offerings that complement traditional construction and facilities services
AI Ideation & Innovation Practice Leadership
- Acts as the AI ideation and innovation lead, driving the identification, evaluation, and adoption of artificial intelligence capabilities, partnering with the organization
- Champion AI-driven innovation by leading structured ideation sessions, proof-of-concept development, and pilot programs that explore practical applications of generative AI, machine learning, and intelligent automation
- Maintain the enterprise AI roadmap, aligning AI initiatives with business unit objectives and digital product goals
- Establish AI governance frameworks, including responsible AI usage policies, data ethics guidelines, and evaluation criteria for AI tool selection and deployment
Collaboration & Partner Engagement
- Ensure digital products meet enterprise security, privacy, and compliance requirements
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to position digital products and enable customer adoption

Minimum Requirements
Experience
- 7+ years of experience in product development with expertise in externally-facing digital products
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing product and engineering teams
- Minimum 5 years of direct experience in Construction, Facilities Management, Building Services, Controls/Smart Building, or related built environment industries
- Proven track record of launching and scaling B2B digital products, preferably in construction tech, proptech, or building technology sectors
- Deep understanding of building automation systems, HVAC controls, energy management, and smart building technologies
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience with modern cloud architectures, API development, and SaaS product delivery
- Strong product management skills including customer discovery, market analysis, and business case development
- Experience with BACnet, Modbus, or other building automation protocols
- Knowledge of energy management, sustainability reporting, and green building certification requirements
- Familiarity with digital twin technologies and building information modeling (BIM)
- Experience with IoT platforms, edge computing, and real-time data analytics
- Background in customer success, professional services, or technical pre-sales
- Experience with Azure IoT, AWS IoT, or similar cloud IoT platforms
- Understanding of construction technology ecosystem (Procore, Autodesk, Trimble, etc.)
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive results in emerging product areas
