About the Opportunity:

The Washington County Sheriff's Office is seeking to fill a Client Services Technician I within the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) and Washington County Jail. The Client Services Technician I provides specialized customer service related to the routine operation and maintenance of personal and networked computer hardware and software applications; installs, maintains, and troubleshoots operational issues with the Sheriff's Office individual or networked personal computer workstations, printers, and software applications.

This position is a Variable Hour position. Variable Hour positions are at-will and hours are limited to twenty (20) hours per week averaged over a three (3) month period.These positions will accrue sick time and are not eligible for medical, dental, or vision benefits.

Ideal Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Assists and trains in installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of operational problems with individual or networked personal computer workstations, printers, and software applications throughout Sheriff's Office facilities.

  • Assists and trains in troubleshooting the loading of operating systems, drivers, and applications on networked computers.

  • Upgrades and tests new components and peripherals and customizes settings to ensure operational compatibility with network resources.

  • Confers with users and departments to ensure data technology and systems needs are operating efficiently. Maintains software licensing, compliance records, and equipment lifecycle data for implementing ongoing upgrade and replacement schedules.

  • Assists in creating a positive and supportive work environment; enforces a safe workplace; establishes a culture of teamwork and communication; creates a workplace that promotes the organizational values of access and opportunity and actively promotes an environment respectful of living and working in a society accepting of all.

  • Assists and trains in the development and modification of user accounts within domain structure and troubleshoots user account problems.

  • Tracks and monitors service efforts; assists in implementing and completing service work plan requests. Orders necessary parts, processes receivables, maintains records and inventories of hardware, software, and related peripherals needed for new systems, replacements, and repairs.

About the Department/Division:

This position resides in the Data, Analysis, and Technical Assistance (DATA) unit of the Washington County Sheriff's Office. This position will primarily operate within the Washington County Jail, LEC, and other Sheriff's Office locations as needed. The Washington County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) is a full-service law enforcement agency located in Hillsboro, Oregon, serving the residents of the county's urban and rural areas. WCSO enhances public safety by fostering professionalism, compassion, and trust within its team and the communities it serves. WCSO is the primary first responder for unincorporated residents, offering services from routine patrol and crime investigation to specialized teams. The WCSO also operates the county's only jail and provides services to cities within the county on a contract basis.

Education and Experience:

  • One (1) year or 45 credits of college-level coursework in computer science or a closely related field, and one (1) year of experience providing computer hardware and software support OR

  • Two (2) years of experience providing computer hardware and software support (applicable certifications may substitute for the education and experience requirements).

    Additional Requirements

    The selected finalist(s) for this position must be able to pass a thorough background investigation conducted by the Sheriff's Office. The background Investigation for this position typically take 6-8 weeks to complete so you will want to plan accordingly. The information that will be required when you complete the Personal History Statement includes, but is not limited to:
