Department:Transit Services Department Organizational Unit:Bus Operations Position Type:Permanent Full Time/Part Time:Full Time CLOSE DATE: 04/15/2026 $2,435.26 biweekly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Central Area/Cocoa Transit Center/Travels Countywide. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and may include evenings, Saturdays, and holidays. Performs skilled service work supervising the activities of the Transit Services Department. Work includes scheduling routes and drivers, inspecting vehicles, providing customer service, and training vehicle operators. REQUIREMENTS: Six (6) years of experience in the operations and/or scheduling of passenger transportation vehicles or a closely related field;ORfive (5) years of operating a bus as a Brevard County SCAT Vehicle Operator. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, or obtain within six (6) months of employment, a valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver's license with a P endorsement and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must successfully complete, within thirty (30) days of hire, a defensive driving course. Must possess, or obtain within thirty (30) days of employment, a current valid basic first aid certification PLUS a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification and maintain both certifications during the term of employment. All applicants must complete an Affidavit of Good Moral Character at the time of the interview. Must successfully pass a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) physical from a County approved medical provider. Must be able to successfully complete a criminal, a driver's license, and a personal background investigation conducted by Brevard County and/or another agency. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed. This position is safety sensitive as defined by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Drug and Alcohol Testing regulations.
