Genesis10 is currently seeking a Systems Engineer (Infrastructure & Cloud) for a full-time permanent opportunity located in Indianapolis, IN.

  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Schedule: 100% on-site for first 90 days (potentially longer based on workload), then flexible
  • Travel: Minimal (as needed for site or project support)

The Systems Engineer is responsible for hands-on design, implementation, and ongoing management of enterprise infrastructure with a strong emphasis on Microsoft 365 and Azure/Entra ID. This role supports a rapidly evolving, acquisition-driven environment and requires a highly autonomous, problem-solving mindset.
This individual will play a key role in modernizing and securing infrastructure, leading tenant integrations, and driving standardization across a distributed enterprise of 25+ locations. The role is heavily focused on execution (not delegation) and requires deep, real-world experience in cloud identity, M365 administration, and enterprise integrations.

Key Responsibilities
Microsoft 365, Azure & Entra ID (Primary Focus)

  • Administer and optimize the Microsoft 365 environment (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Intune, etc.)
  • Lead and execute tenant migrations, integrations, and consolidations across acquired entities
  • Manage Entra ID (Azure AD) hybrid identity, conditional access policies, and MFA
  • Design and implement secure identity and access solutions (RBAC, SSO, PKI, authentication flows)
  • Build and automate processes using PowerShell (user provisioning, license assignment, access controls)
  • Integrate external applications and data sources into M365/Azure environments
  • Drive security hardening and governance improvements across M365 tenants
Infrastructure & Systems Engineering
  • Manage and support VMware and Nutanix environments (primary platforms)
  • Maintain Windows Server infrastructure (AD DS, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy)
  • Support hybrid cloud/on-prem infrastructure and system performance
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of Hyper-V (primarily for migration and decommissioning efforts)
  • Partner with security teams to enforce endpoint protection and system security standards

Citrix / VDI (Secondary)
  • Support existing Citrix environment (on-prem virtual desktop delivery)
  • Troubleshoot performance and session issues as needed
  • Collaborate with internal SMEs; deep Citrix expertise is not required but familiarity is helpful
Operational Support & On-Site Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary on-site IT resource (Indianapolis location)
  • Handle occasional Level 1/2 escalations requiring hands-on support (~5%, higher initially due to backlog)
  • Support onboarding/offboarding (device setup, access validation, hardware handling)
  • Act as "eyes and ears" for infrastructure and end-user needs at the site

Data Center & Infrastructure Improvement
  • Assess and remediate local data center environment (organization, cabling, hardware cleanup)
  • Decommission legacy systems and consolidate infrastructure footprint
  • Improve documentation, labeling, and operational standards
  • Support recovery processes and infrastructure stabilization efforts
M&A, Transformation & Strategic Initiatives
  • Support integration of newly acquired organizations (identity, systems, infrastructure)
  • Contribute to enterprise-wide initiatives (AD domain consolidation, security rollouts, network upgrades)
  • Evaluate solutions based on business impact, scalability, and security best practices
  • Operate with a "builder" mindset-helping bring structure to a fast-growing environment

Process, Compliance & Collaboration
  • Follow ITIL/ITSM practices including change control and documentation
  • Support compliance frameworks (HIPAA, SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, NIST)
  • Ensure secure, compliant solutions-balancing speed with risk awareness
  • Document systems, processes, and changes thoroughly
  • Mentor team members and contribute to cross-training efforts
Qualifications
Technical Expertise
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure/Entra ID in a hybrid enterprise environment
  • Proven experience executing tenant migrations, integrations, and enterprise-scale implementations
  • Deep understanding of identity, access management, and security best practices
  • Experience with VMware and/or Nutanix infrastructure
  • Working knowledge of PowerShell for automation
  • Familiarity with Citrix or similar VDI technologies
  • Understanding of ITIL processes and enterprise compliance frameworks

Personal & Professional Traits
  • Highly autonomous and comfortable working independently (especially in an on-site, solo role)
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with an "engineer's approach" to challenges
  • Able to operate effectively in ambiguity and a fast-changing, acquisition-driven environment
  • Resilient, adaptable, and comfortable managing competing priorities
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Collaborative, with a willingness to mentor and share knowledge
Work Environment
  • Location: Indianapolis, IN (on-site role)
  • First 90 days: 100% on-site (potentially longer based on workload)
  • Ongoing: Hybrid flexibility based on business needs and manager discretion
  • Environment: Fast-paced, high-growth organization with significant ongoing infrastructure transformation
What Success Looks Like
  • Brings structure and organization to a complex, evolving environment
  • Drives meaningful improvements in M365 governance, security, and usability
  • Successfully integrates systems across acquisitions
  • Stabilizes and modernizes infrastructure while maintaining business continuity
  • Operates as a trusted, hands-on engineer-not just a coordinator
