Essential Job Duties
The Communications Specialist manages the digital presence, strategic messaging, and project coordination for the organization. This role involves leading large-scale digital transitions, ensuring ADA compliance, and creating multimedia content to support safety awareness and operational needs. This position will assist with business operations, update communications associated with emergency plans, and respond to customer service emails, requests for assistance, and phone inquiries.

Minimum Experience/Education

  • Associate's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Public Affairs, Journalism, English, or a related field from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience applying journalistic, communication, and/or publication principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated experience with social media engagement, content management, online listening, and analytics.
  • Demonstrated experience using technology related to web design, social media platforms, and digital communications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry standards and best practices for social and digital media.


Department Required Skills

  • Proficiency in web development tools, including WordPress, HTML, and CSS.
  • Experience using graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.
  • Strong project management skills, including experience leading cross-functional or cross-divisional initiatives.
  • Experience with digital analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics), email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp), and video recording/editing software (e.g., Camtasia).

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

  • Proficiency with Google Workspace tools, including Google Drive and Gmail, as well as experience with standard operating templates and data cataloging.
  • Strong creative eye for developing engaging, visually appealing content that captures and retains audience attention.
