What You'll Be Doing

The Software Engineer Apprentice will join Team ATOM, the group responsible for delivering backend services that help financial institutions detect and prevent fraudulent activity. As an apprentice, you'll support the development of new features for the Jack Henry Intercept platform and assist in debugging and maintaining production services.

This role offers handson engineering experience, ongoing mentorship from senior engineers, and meaningful work on systems that protect financial institutions and their accountholders.

This position may be worked remotely within the United States, with the exception of California.

What you'll be responsible for
  • Deliver new backend features for the Jack Henry Intercept frauddetection product.
  • Assist in debugging and supporting production services, ensuring stability and reliability.
  • Collaborate closely with a team of four engineers and two contractors, frequently working in paired development.
  • Ask questions, stay curious, and actively engage with your mentor and teammates.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving team processes and service quality.
  • Take ownership of assigned tasks and follow them through to completion.
  • May perform other job duties as assigned.
What you'll need to have

All apprentice candidates must:

  • Be able to work in the U.S. without any sponsorship or future sponsorship needs.
  • Meet legal requirements to work in the U.S. for an indefinite period of time.
  • Experience with NodeJS or TypeScript
  • Ability to build REST API services
  • Experience working with relational databases (Postgres, MySQL, Spanner, etc.)
  • Exposure to cloud development (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
