Purpose:

At Worley, the Senior Accounting Manager, U.S. Statutory Reporting is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of U.S. statutory financial reporting in accordance with IFRS. This position leads core accounting operations including month-end close, statutory filings, technical accounting, and audit coordination, while driving continuous process improvement and transformation initiatives.

This role requires a seasoned leader with strong technical accounting expertise, a proven track record of managing teams (5+ years), and the ability to optimize processes, systems, and controls in a complex, multi-entity, multi-currency environment. The Senior Accounting Manager partners closely with cross-functional teams including Payroll, Project Accounting, Shared Services, and Global Finance to enhance operational efficiency and ensure high-quality financial reporting.

Reporting to the U.S. Controller, this role plays a critical part in shaping accounting policy application, strengthening internal controls, and supporting strategic initiatives across the organization.

Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals, including both onshore and offshore resources, fostering a high-performance and continuous improvement culture.
  • Provide oversight and direction to Staff and Senior Accountants, including teams in Bogota, ensuring quality, timeliness, and compliance with corporate policies.
  • Drive accountability, establish performance expectations, and support career development through coaching and feedback.

Statutory Reporting

  • Oversee the preparation and review of U.S. statutory financial statements in compliance with IFRS, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the annual statutory reporting process and manage internal/external audits, acting as one of the primary liaisons with auditors and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to global accounting policies, evaluating their application and impact on U.S. operations.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on complex technical accounting matters, including revenue recognition, leases, intercompany transactions, and foreign currency accounting.
  • Research, interpret, and document accounting guidance, ensuring appropriate application and alignment with Group Finance requirements.
  • Direct and oversee the month-end, half year, and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial results.
  • Review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations, ensuring completeness and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Resolve complex intercompany discrepancies in collaboration with global finance teams.
  • Identify, lead, and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of accounting operations.
  • Collaborate with Project Accounting, Payroll, Tax, and Shared Services to resolve accounting issues and improve data integrity.

What you will bring
Technical/Industry Experience and Qualifications Requirements:

  • Minimum 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and/or industry experience.
  • At least 5 years of direct people management experience, leading diverse and geographically distributed teams.
  • Strong experience in statutory reporting, financial audits, and multinational environments.
  • Deep knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP, with demonstrated application of technical accounting guidance.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Oracle GBS, Oracle EPM FCC, or similar platforms).
  • Expert-level Microsoft Excel skills (data analysis, modeling, and reporting).
  • Experience with financial reporting and consolidation tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.

Education - Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.

Preferred:

  • CPA or equivalent certification strongly preferred.
