Position Overview

The Stone Haus Pizzeria Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Stone Haus Pizzeria, which also serves as the Village coffee and ice cream shop. This leadership role reports directly to the Director of Village Dining and plays a key role within Solitude Mountain Resort's Food & Beverage team, which includes four restaurants, two bars, three mountain lodges, and a banquets department.

The ideal candidate is coachable, flexible, and guest-focused, with a passion for developing people and delivering consistent, high-quality hospitality experiences. Required Qualifications
  • Previous leadership experience in food & beverage or hospitality (frontline management level)
  • Strong back-of-house experience with a passion for quality food and beverage
  • Experience using POS systems
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and motivate hourly teams
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Punctual, reliable, and adaptable to changing business needs


Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership
  • Own daily opening and closing procedures to ensure the facility is secure, clean, safe, and operationally ready
  • Execute established standards for food quality, speed of service, cleanliness, and guest experience
  • Work alongside the team during peak periods, including working the line to maintain consistency and flow
  • Anticipate service challenges ("hot spots") and implement immediate action plans
  • Ensure adherence to hours of operation and staffing plans

Driving Results
  • Execute daily operations to meet service, quality, labor, and cost expectations
  • Effectively prioritize work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Take ownership of results and consistently follow through on commitments

People Management
  • Directly supervise, train, and coach hourly employees in accordance with Solitude standards
  • Provide clear daily direction, ongoing performance feedback, and corrective coaching when needed
  • Support hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and timekeeping processes
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful work environment
  • Ensure team members understand and follow company policies and procedures
  • Identify operational challenges and implement timely, practical solutions


Financial & Inventory Accountability
  • Manage ordering, inventory control, and product storage to minimize waste and support operations
  • Support annual budget planning and manage controllable costs, including COGS and labor
  • Learn and utilize resort financial systems to inform planning and decision-making
  • Work with vendors to maintain product quality and availability

Leadership Development
  • Provide clear direction, coaching, and feedback to team members
  • Build trust through consistency, accountability, and fairness
  • Support onboarding, training, and ongoing employee development
  • Address performance issues promptly and professionally

Customer & Guest Experience
  • Model Solitude's service standards and hospitality behaviors
  • Address guest concerns with empathy, urgency, and professionalism
  • Balance guest expectations with operational realities to deliver consistent experiences
  • Reinforce a guest-first mindset across the team

Operational Excellence
  • Follow and enforce all established processes, policies, and safety standards
  • Maintain consistency in food quality, cleanliness, and service flow
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including DABS
  • Utilize available systems and tools to support efficient operations

Collaboration & Communication
  • Share relevant information upward and across the organization
  • Contribute to a team-oriented, solutions-focused culture
  • Partner with peers, culinary leadership, and other departments to support resort-wide goals
  • Recommend operational improvements within established systems
  • Support internal and external events as assigned

Compliance & Safety
  • Maintain compliance with all local, state, and company regulations, including DABS
  • Ensure all required certifications are obtained and maintained
  • Promote a culture of safety for employees and guests, including light snow removal as needed

Adaptability & Learning Agility
  • Adjust priorities based on business needs, volume, and conditions
  • Learn and apply new systems, procedures, and standards
  • Accept feedback and demonstrate continuous growth as a leader
  • Remain calm and effective during periods of change or pressure


Licenses & Certifications

Ability to obtain and maintain all required State of Utah certifications, including:
  • Food Handler's Permit
  • Sips & Tips
  • DABS Manager Certification
