Job Summary

The Adult Emergency General Surgery (EGS) Coordinator supports the development and daily operations of the Emergency General Surgery Program, with a primary focus on achieving and maintaining EGS verification through the American College of Surgeons (ACS). This role works closely with the EGS Medical Director and multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with ACS standards, manage program data, lead quality improvement efforts, and coordinate verification activities. The Coordinator also oversees administrative functions and serves as the central point of contact for program operations.

Essential Functions
  • Develop and maintain a strong, collaborative working relationship with the EGS Medical Director to support program goals, strategic initiatives, and operational needs.
  • Establish and sustain effective systems for interdisciplinary collaboration across programmatic, data management, and quality improvement (QI) activities.
  • Oversee administrative functions of the EGS Program, including scheduling and supporting committee meetings, managing documentation, and ensuring appropriate allocation of program resources.
  • Serve as the Operations Coordinator for the EGS Program, facilitating day-to-day activities and ensuring alignment with institutional standards and best practices.
  • Lead efforts to maintain program verification and re-verification requirements in partnership with the Medical Director, ensuring compliance with ACS standards.
  • Participates in creating and maintaining files, records, reports, and other documentation related to requirements and assists with any site level inspections, as necessary.
Qualifications

Required

  • Associate's degree graduate from an accredited nursing program
  • 1 year of relevant experience and adult nursing experience in an inpatient or emergency setting
  • 5 years of relevant experience professional experience in the areas of program management or coordination
  • LIC-Registered Nurse (RN) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing

Preferred

  • 5 years of relevant experience Five (5) years of experience working with emergency general surgery patient
