Tata Consulting Engineers USA, LLC, (TCE), is a multi-disciplinary engineering organization offering a full range of integrated engineering design, project support, procurement and construction management services to the energy and chemicals industries.


Position Summary

The Deskside Technician will act as the primary point of contact for end users, providing both onsite and remote support across our Houston and Beaumont locations. This role is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and upgrading end-user devices to ensure optimal performance and a high level of customer satisfaction.


Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

Assist in planning and forecasting end-user device needs across multiple locations.

Provide onsite support at both Houston and Beaumont offices, with travel as required.

Acquisition & Deployment

Research, evaluate, and recommend hardware and software solutions.

Support device standardization and procurement processes.

Develop technical specifications for end-user equipment purchases.

Operational Support

Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues (onsite and remote).

Install, configure, test, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals.

Respond to service desk tickets, phone calls, emails, and chat requests promptly.

Perform Moves, Adds, and Changes (MAC) requests.

Document incidents, repairs, installations, and asset changes accurately.

Track devices sent for repair or under warranty.

Ensure proper functioning of physical connections (Ethernet, cabling, etc.).

Monitor system performance and recommend upgrades when needed.

Maintain inventory of IT assets and components.

Collaborate with network and systems teams to support IT operations.

Escalate issues to third-party vendors when necessary.


Qualifications

Microsoft certifications (e.g., Microsoft 365, Azure Fundamentals)

Strong knowledge of desktop/laptop hardware and peripherals

Experience supporting Windows environments (macOS is a plus)

Familiarity with:

Active Directory.

Microsoft 365 / Office 365.

Basic networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).

Experience with imaging and deployment tools (e.g., SCCM, Intune) is a plus.

Ability to read and interpret technical documentation.

Strong customer service orientation.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving abilities.

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Team-oriented with the ability to work independently.

Travel between Houston and Beaumont locations as needed.

Valid driver's license required.

On-call rotation may be required.

Ability to lift and transport equipment (up to ~50 lbs).

Extended periods of sitting and computer use.

Steel-toe shoes and PPE required.

Software Experience Required:

Microsoft 365 / Office 365

macOS is a plus.

Preferred certifications:

CompTIA A+

Network+


Education Requirements

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
