Mead & Hunt, an award-winning national architecture and engineering firm, has continued to exceed our strategic growth initiatives creating opportunities for our current and prospective team members. As a result, a full-time position is available for a highly motivated Civil Engineer to join our Aviation group at our Charleston, SC or Tampa, FL office location.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing engineering and design documents, computations and quantity estimates for aviation engineering projects, which include but are not limited to taxiways, aprons, runways, and others.
  • Preparing reports, budgets, cost estimates, specifications, plans, schedules, studies, and permits
  • Evaluating and analyzing existing / ongoing projects
  • Performing job-specific QA/QC tasks including leading design reviews as defined in quality control manual
  • May serve as the onsite project engineer or representative on construction projects as needed
  • Attending client / project meetings - days or nights.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

A valid driver's license, the ability to pass background check to gain access to airport sites, and travel (approximately 25%) will be required.

The successful candidate will have the following background:

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in civil engineering or related field from an accredited college or university
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience.

The ideal candidate will have experience in any/all the following:

  • EIT certification is highly preferred
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D software
  • Comfortable with public speaking and working in a client facing role
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical reports, regulations/specifications along with ability to write technical reports and business correspondence
  • Heavy civil construction experience
  • Construction field tasks including site grading, utilities, drainage, erosion control, paving, materials testing, and/or surveying
  • Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project software programs
