Cybersecurity Risk Engineer


Job Summary: LGI supports federal programs focused on securing the technologies that underpin critical missions of the intelligence community. Our team helps agencies evaluate the security of information and communications technology (ICT), improve acquisition and risk-management processes, and guide the safe adoption of new capabilities. We're seeking an experienced cybersecurity professional who can bring architectural insight, technical rigor, and clear recommendations to a complex enterprise environment.

Job Responsibilities:


  • Provide technical leadership across cybersecurity and IT security engineering efforts supporting enterprise modernization and mission systems.
  • Develop practical security architecture guidance to support the introduction of new tools, platforms, and services.
  • Analyze systems, applications, and software to identify risk exposure and recommend clear, actionable mitigations.
  • Deliver reporting and performance metrics that give leadership visibility into risk trends, assessment volume, and opportunities to streamline processes.
  • Strengthen the consistency and quality of assessment outputs through auditing, monitoring, and standardized evaluation practices.
  • Maintain project documentation, asset inventories, and deliverables using common productivity tools (Word, Excel, SharePoint).
  • Track technology trends, cost factors, and industry developments relevant to federal cybersecurity and supply chain security.
  • Recommend policy or procedural improvements when mission needs, technologies, or risk conditions evolve.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert during reviews of ICT products considered for purchase, renewal, or integration.
  • Coordinate closely with enterprise IT leaders to align supply chain and security engineering efforts with broader architectural and operational objectives.
  • Assess security solutions, technologies, and hardware for suitability and integration into existing infrastructures.
  • Research emerging approaches to security infrastructure and benchmark options to support future planning.



Required Qualifications:

  • Current Active Top Secret clearance required, with eligibility for SCI and CI Poly as needed.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (preferred).
  • At least 7 years of progressive experience in cybersecurity or related technical roles.
  • Strong background conducting security architecture or design reviews in complex enterprise environments.
  • Experience evaluating software security across open source, proprietary, and data service technologies.
  • Prior experience supporting technical teams or incident resolution activities (preferred).
  • Deep expertise in at least one of the following areas: Windows and Active Directory;
  • Networking, routing, switching; Application environments such as .NET, C, or C#
  • Familiarity with cloud environments or AI related technologies (preferred).
  • Demonstrated success securing large, highly connected, or industrial scale environments such as data centers.



Location: Washington, DC - must be on site at client facility 5 days a week

Federal Contracts: This position involves working on federal contracts that require all workers on the contract to be U.S. Citizens. Additionally, some contracts may require the ability to obtain a security clearance.

Salary Range:
$100,000 - $150,000

LGI carefully considers various factors when determining salary, including but not limited to education and training, professional experience, knowledge, skills and competencies, licensure and certifications, contract-specific affordability, and organizational requirements. New employees are not usually hired at the top of the estimated salary range and salary decisions depend on the circumstances and factors for each case. Salary is only one aspect of LGI's generous total compensation package.
