What You'll Do
- Build & lead the team: Oversee daily sales activity, quoting, order management, and customer support; build and manage a structured outbound sales model utilizing phone and email outreach to generate new opportunities, expand existing accounts, and drive revenue growth
- Stay active as a working manager: Directly manage a defined set of customer accounts, personally engaging in outreach, opportunity development, and sales execution to help prove and refine the outbound model
- Own performance & process: Develop and monitor KPIs for sales activity, pipeline development, quoting performance, and customer responsiveness; review sales and operational reports to identify trends, resolve issues, and drive improvements
- Solve for customers: Partner with customers in industrial and manufacturing environments to identify automation opportunities and recommend solutions including sensors, controls, motion, drives, robotics, and related technologies; support pricing strategy, product selection, and system configuration
- Collaborate cross-functionally: Work with sales engineers, customer service, assembly, and warehouse teams on accurate quoting, order processing, and delivery; coordinate with operations on inventory, non-stock procurement, consignment, returns, and fulfillment
- Stay sharp on product: Maintain strong working knowledge of automation product lines and vendor technologies to support customers and internal teams; utilize ERP and vendor systems to track opportunities, manage orders, and maintain documentation
What You'll Need
- Experience & Education: Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Industrial Automation, Electrical Technology, or related field - or equivalent experience; 2+ years in industrial sales, automation, controls, or technical distribution
- Leadership Track Record: Proven experience developing and leading a team in a sales or technical environment
- Technical Knowledge: Working knowledge of industrial automation products including PLCs, sensors, drives, motion control, robotics, and HMIs preferred
- Core Skills: Strong consultative selling, customer relationship, and problem-solving skills; excellent communication and collaboration abilities across sales, operations, vendors, and customers; strong organizational and time management skills in a fast-paced environment
- Physical Requirements: Ability to walk, stand, and move within a warehouse or industrial environment; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs
