Summary:

The Director Pastoral Care Coordinates the ministry of pastoral care to residents. Involves all staff members in this ministry and provides staff with ongoing educational opportunities for holistic care.

Responsibilities:

* Assists in the design and implementation of orientation for management, physicians, staff, and volunteers to aid in the integration of mission and values into all aspects of the organization
* Ensures continuing education on mission, values and ethics for physicians, staff, and volunteers
* Advises on policies, procedures, and organizational philosophy and ethics to ensure congruence with the mission and values of CHRISTUS Health and the teachings of the Catholic Church
* Works collaboratively with other departments; e.g.. Spiritual Care, Human Resources, Organization Development, Education, Communications, Advocacy, and the Ethics Committee in conducting leadership development and spirituality programs, developing personnel policies, wage and salary programs, coordinating formation, programs and advising on communications and advocacy endeavors
* Fosters a corporate culture that enhances a sense of Christian community within the organization
* Fosters communication, networking, and shared learning among local and System Mission leaders
* Assures quality professional spiritual care that attends to the spiritual and religious needs of those served
* Assists in the implementation of System accountability mechanisms concerning the ongoing status of mission integration
* Articulate and demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the mission, values, and heritage of the sponsoring Congregations
* Promote public awareness of services provided and participates in growth strategies through community education and/or marketing activities with the emphasis on the local community
* Actively participate in developing healthcare programs and coordinating resources to reach out to the poor and underserved populations in our communities, while participating in the social accountability process of the organization
* Develop budget recommendations regarding needs for Mission programs
* Manage resources/expenses appropriately
* Able to prioritize projects/activities appropriately to meet the organization's needs
* Meet regularly with management to communicate goals and activities
* Work collaboratively with other departments to foster a corporate culture that enhances a sense of Christian community within the organization
* Attend and participate in various functions, both community and organizational, in support of mission
* In collaboration with the Vice President of Mission Integration, serves as a liaison with the church at the parish and diocesan levels
* Participate in meetings to provide mission guidance, ethical decision-making, ongoing education, and necessary policy revision and/or formation
* Lead prayers and participate in liturgies, in collaboration with the Spiritual Care Department, as appropriate, in service to the organization
* Assist in the preparation of an annual report on Mission to the Regional Board
