Supervisor, IT Patching Center of Excellence



The Supervisor of the IT Patching Center of Excellence plays a key role in protecting APS's technology environment by leading the team that delivers enterprise patching. This work keeps critical systems secure, reliable, and compliant-directly supporting safe, uninterrupted service for customers across Arizona. By guiding patching operations and helping teams stay ahead of vulnerabilities, this leader strengthens APS's commitment to providing dependable energy to the communities we serve.


What Your Day Would Be Like:



  • Lead and support a team that executes enterprise patching to keep APS systems secure, stable, and compliant.
  • Prioritize patching activities and coordinate delivery to reduce risk and maintain service levels.
  • Partner with technical and business teams to understand patching needs, troubleshoot issues, and ensure strong customer service.
  • Track patching performance, identify improvement opportunities, and advance processes and tools.
  • Coach and develop team members through clear communication, guidance, and handson leadership.



Who We're Looking For:



  • A peoplefocused leader with experience guiding technical teams and delivering excellent customer service.
  • Knowledgeable in enterprise patching, vulnerability remediation, and supporting tools and technologies.
  • Strong communicator with analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Comfortable prioritizing work in a fastmoving environment while balancing compliance and service expectations.
  • Familiarity with ITSM/ITIL principles, ServiceNow, and regulated environments.

Minimum Requirements

Supervisor, IT Patching Center of Excellence




  • Bachelors' degree in Information Technology or related field
  • PLUS five (5) years' prior relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
  • PLUS one (1) year prior leadership experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
  • Knowledge of all infrastructure technologies (compute, storage, networking, physical infrastructure, software, commercial off the shelf (COTS) and open source packages and solutions, virtual and cloud including IaaS, PaaS and SaaS);
  • Knowledge of infrastructure management tools and monitoring tools, solution sizing for hardware/software platforms, industry standard security requirements and designs.

    Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications
  • Prior leadership experience highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of service offerings; customer service principles; various computer software applications, PCs, operating systems, and other computer-related technologies.


Major Accountabilities

  1. Leading and coaching a team of IT professionals, fostering a high-performing, customer focused culturewhile ensuring patching service delivery.
  2. Managing patching schedules and timely execution to remediate vulnerabilities across the enterprise onvarious enterprise devices.
  3. Driving performance metrics to monitor service levels, compliance, and continuous improvement with afocus on automation.
  4. Managing the intake of patching requests and coordinating implementation and action plans forremediation.
  5. Partnering with business and IT leaders to identify patching needs, recommend improvements, andstreamline workflows.
  6. Development and execution of operational plans that align with enterprise goals and evolving businessneeds.
  7. Cross-functional collaboration with departments across IT and the business to proactively identify issuesand drive service delivery and improvements.
  8. Partner with Cybersecurity and other governance and oversight stakeholders to ensure compliance.
  9. Prioritization of team resources and support efforts by defining schedules, assigning responsibilities, andmanaging administrative workflows.
  10. Enablement of architectural standards to drive improvements and reduce overhead in patching oftechnical debt.
  11. Oversight of department budgets and financial planning to ensure responsible and effective use ofresources.
  12. Aligning department strategies in support of unit, organization, and corporate goals.
  13. Develops and retains a highly skilled technical team by implementing performance management programand ensuring staff has the technical and business skills to support the objectives of the organization.
  14. Develops team and guides their efforts to continually improve the delivery of system solutions.
  15. Providesfeedback, coaching and training and development opportunities to create a high performing team.
  16. Day-to-day decisions guided by APS policies and procedures, with support and strategic direction fromyour leadership team.
