Starting Pay: $22/hour

Internship Overview:

This paid Engineering Internship is perfect for current students, recent graduates, or those with military experience. Under the guidance of the Maintenance Manager, you'll work with engineering teams in process, mechanical, electrical, controls, and reliability fields. You'll tackle real business projects and learn about various manufacturing processes.

What You'll Do:



  • Support production and quality improvements through equipment and process innovation
  • Troubleshoot and document machine issues using root cause analysis
  • Assist with project design and budgeting
  • Work approximately 40 hours/week; we welcome candidates from process, mechanical, or electrical engineering backgrounds
  • Gain hands-on experience with Overhead Cranes (OHC), forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts
  • Get exposure to a range of manufacturing equipment and semi-automated packaging lines


Special Projects:



  • Machine Guarding Assessment
  • Capital Request (CAR) Projects
  • Machine Movement initiatives


Ideal Qualifications:



  • Completed at least two years of college in Engineering or related fields
  • Familiarity with Microsoft applications, 3D Modeling, and GD&T
  • Strong teamwork, analytical, and multitasking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Experience with problem-solving and critical thinking
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments and adapt to shifting priorities
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement
  • Basic understanding of safety and compliance standards


A Day in the Life

As an intern at Worthington Steel, you'll work closely with the Maintenance and Engineering teams, observe ongoing projects, and participate in equipment repairs. You'll help update engineering drawings, manage documentation, and get involved in semi-automation and machine guarding projects. This hands-on role helps you develop practical skills and understand real-world engineering practices, supporting both the team and facility operations.
