The Enterprise Director, Ambulatory & Specialty Pharmacy Services provides leadership and direction to all
ambulatory pharmacy services including retail, specialty, and ambulatory teams, in alignment with UVA
Pharmacy Enterprise goals and objectives and UVA Health Strategic Plan. UVA Health ambulatory pharmacy
network includes 9 retail pharmacies, a specialty & home delivery pharmacy, and robust ambulatory clinical
and medication access services.
The new leader will be responsible for operational and financial performance of the department, and all
associated regulatory and compliance elements.
AREAS OF EMPHASIS * Cohesive leadership of all ambulatory pharmacy areas including retail, specialty, home delivery, central fulfillment operations, medication access, clinical practice, value-based care and population health pharmacy programs, etc. * Strong understanding of programmatic, operational, regulatory, and financial principles of ambulatory pharmacy practice. * Expert knowledge of the field, committed to pursuit of ongoing knowledge and best practice. * Aligns to organizational and department goals and delivers results to accomplish those goals. * Leads national recognition and practice sharing. * Evaluates and determines optimal operating model for ambulatory practice areas; ensures appropriate resourcing, leadership, and support structures are in place. * Promotes and leads advancement of all ambulatory practice areas, teams, and programs. * Serves as senior leadership of the department, aligning with other enterprise directors on departmental leadership and vision; able to make decisions that are best for the department as a whole. * Add value to UVA Health through additional duties as assigned. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Provides effective leadership and oversight to the pharmacy enterprise. * Responsibility for planning, coordinating, program evaluation, resource management, cost control, and quality improvement, for all activities within area of oversight. * Advances quality and safety of pharmacy care provided with the goal of improving patient health outcomes. * Models effective communication and collaboration skills / behaviors. * Takes action to achieve measurable results. PAGE 11 * Establish and monitor departmental goals, performance standards, and policies. * Develop and implement operating and capital budgets. * Enhance customer service and achieve patient satisfaction targets. * Identify opportunities for improvement, manage complexities, and ensure optimal outcomes. * Lead quality improvement and track progresstoward goals. * Explore and develop external and system partnershipsto meet business and strategic needs. * Foster excellent internal and public relations, representing ambulatory pharmacy services. * Collaborate with clinical and administrative leaders on strategic programs and growth. * Develop plansto improve operational effectiveness and patient experience. * Lead efforts to improve the ambulatory pharmacy services' competitive strength, cost-efficiency, and care quality. * Participate in the continuing development and execution of the pharmacy strategic plan that spans UVA Health. * Identifies strategic opportunities for pharmacy practice and efficiency/effectiveness in patient care delivery in partnership with the Chief Pharmacy Officer and UVA leadership. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Pharmacy degree (B.S. and/or Pharm.D.) from an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy required. Master's degree required. Experience: 3 years of General Practice experience required. 5 years Management experience required. Specialized residency training in pharmacy administration will be considered toward required experience. Licensure: Commonwealth of Virginia State Board of Pharmacy License required.
