In the role of a Geomorphologist, we'll count on you to
  • Assist with geologic and hydrologic studies, including field work, and other hydrologic, geologic, geophysical tasks both locally and nationally
  • Assist with contaminated site remediation tasks
  • Conduct analyses to develop design options or recommendations, and assist in the preparation of service deliverable documents
  • Perform assignments requiring application of moderately complex objectives and limited variables
  • Work independently on medium-size projects or assist more-senior scientists on larger projects
  • Lead or assist with the development of stream, wetland, and aquatic habitat restoration projects, including early scoping, feasibility assessments, alternatives evaluation, and formulation of channel improvement strategies.
  • Perform geomorphic and hydraulic field investigations, including survey work, sediment characterization, and construction observations, and convert field data into clear technical reports, graphics, and supporting documents for design and regulatory needs.
  • Support the design of water resource infrastructure such as fish passage features, stream crossings, water intake structures, and scour mitigation solutions, using hydraulic and sediment transport modeling to assess expected performance across a range of flow conditions.
  • Analyze habitat complexity designs that incorporate large wood elements, layout plans, and detailed drawings, and evaluate the structural stability and performance of installed LWM features.
  • Conduct complex hydraulic and hydrologic modeling to support restoration design, infrastructure evaluation, and watershed scale analysis.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to assess channel stability, interpret watershed processes, and create restoration designs that improve instream and off channel habitat, reconnect floodplains, and enhance flow conditions.
  • Assess geomorphic conditions across river, stream, watershed, and coastal systems by examining sediment transport, channel geometry, hydrologic patterns, and long term geomorphic trends that inform sustainable management approaches.
  • Integrate geomorphic, hydrologic, ecological, and terrain based analyses, including metrics such as stream power and slope area relationships, to guide project development from conceptual design through construction and monitoring.
  • Support project planning and delivery by assisting with schedules, budgets, and coordination with clients and internal teams.
  • Perform other duties as needed
