Title of Position: Accounts Research Specialist

Position Overview: As an Account Research Specialist, you will review, research, and monitor the processing of death claims utilizing account settlement, subpoenas/levies, and abandoned property. The Account Research Specialist also reconciles general ledgers associated with Member Operations' functions and serves as a resource and support for members and credit union staff.

Position Type: Full-Time. Regular shifts include Monday to Friday 8:00AM - 5:00PM.

Compensation Range: $20.00/hr. - $ 25.50/hr. *Hiring rates may be dependent on a number of factors, including years of directly related work experience, education, geographic location or special skills*

Location: On-site at our Corporate Headquarters in Endwell, NY.

Responsibilities/Duties:



  • Review and annotate reports related to deceased depositors, levied/subpoenaed members, and unclaimed funds.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of account settlement, subpoenas, and unclaimed property.
  • Review and maintain coded accounts for subpoena and death until subpoena is released, or deceased member's primary account is closed.
  • Report unclaimed property per individual state laws.
  • Provide resolution to inquiries from staff, members, attorneys, and agencies regarding essential functions.
  • Subject matter expert in area of specialization.
  • General ledger reconciliation regarding essential functions.
  • Resolve incorrect entries, using basic accounting principles.
  • Provide departmental back-up coverage as needed.
  • Respond effectively to changing ideas, responsibilities, expectations, trends, strategies, and other processes.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias.
  • Perform other duties needed to help fulfil our mission, drive our strategy, and support our organization's values.
  • Member of the merger and acquisitions team.


Minimum Qualifications & Experience:



  • High school diploma with 1-3 years of related experience.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Proficient with standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, PCs, etc.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:



  • An associate degree preferred
  • Previous financial or banking experience preferred.
