Position Overview

The Investment Research Analyst position is responsible for working with investment staff assisting with a variety of tasks related to asset management. The position will require the application of basic investment management concepts and utilize investment software for trading and research.

Essential Job Functions



  • Conduct stock and mutual fund research and analysis, prepare research reports, and make investment recommendations to the investment team.
  • Utilize investment management concepts to assess investment strategies, asset allocation, and portfolio diversification in order to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Coordinate with portfolio managers to monitor portfolios, maintain investment strategies and process trades for investment clients as directed.
  • Maintain and develop research and analytic reports.
  • Support internal partners with investment reporting needs.
  • Process, analyze, interpret and communicate data/results to customize presentation material for client meetings, presentations, and investment related communications.
  • Evaluate established systems and procedures for potential enhancements to improve efficiency or quality.


Minimum Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field
  • Series 65 license will be required after hire


Competencies



  • Experience processing large amounts of data, analyzing output, and effectively communicating results. (Specific examples will be required.)
  • Exceptional attention to detail in a high-stake, high-volume environment.
  • Strong understanding of basic investment management concepts; previous investment experience preferred. (e.g. Managing student run portfolio.)
  • Strong Microsoft Office Excel skills.


Preferred, but not required



  • MBA or MS in Finance are highly desirable.
  • Progress toward or interest in attaining credentials such as the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) or CFP (Certified Financial Planner) is a plus.


Location Details

This position is considered a hybrid role. With management approval, an incumbent may work a combination of remote and onsite work to perform the regular responsibilities of the role. Actual schedule requirements may vary based upon business needs.

Compensation & Benefits

Base pay: $54,000 - $72,000

Old Second is committed to fair and equitable pay practices. Pay is dependent upon the pay range and the incumbent's knowledge, skills and experience.
