Overview:

The IT Business Analyst supports the delivery of technology initiatives by partnering with business units and IT teams to ensure business requirements are clearly understood, documented, and implemented. This role is responsible for gathering and analyzing business needs, assisting in the translation of those needs into functional specifications, and supporting effective communication between stakeholders and technical teams.

The IT Business Analyst supports the implementation of new technology solutions and enhancements that improve enterprise and administrative operations. The position reports to the Vice President of Strategic Execution, is aligned within the IT Business Analysis function, and collaborates closely with other Business Analysts on assigned initiatives and process improvement efforts.

REQUIREMENTS:



  • Bachelor's degree in education, business, information systems, or related field.
  • 3-5 years' experience in business analysis required.
  • Exposure to higher education environment is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with strong critical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with stakeholders at multiple levels.
  • Working knowledge of project management concepts and tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to create clear documentation, business cases, and process flows.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficient in data analysis and reporting tools, with the ability to extract actionable insights.
  • Skilled in process modeling using tools such as Visio and Lucidchart, with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Business Analysis certification (e.g., CBAP, PMI-PBA) is a plus.


Compensation is determined based on the qualifications, experience, and circumstances of each hire. It is uncommon for new employees to start near the top of the salary range. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a tuition waiver and reimbursement program, health insurance, paid time off, and a retirement savings plan. The salary range for this position is $77,605 to $104,995.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Act as a liaison between the IT department and functional business units, ensuring clear communication and understanding of business needs and technical solutions.
  • Conduct detailed business analysis to identify business needs and develop solutions for business problems.
  • Gather, analyze, and document business requirements and functional specifications from functional leadership, and administrative staff.
  • Conduct gap analysis of current "as-is" processes versus desired "to-be" processes across functional areas.
  • Develop and maintain business analysis documentation, including system configurations, business requirements, process flows, and workflows.
  • Translate business requirements into functional specifications and ensure alignment with business goals, understanding defined business objectives and planned initiatives.
  • Participate in quality assurance (QA) and user acceptance testing (UAT), including test case development, execution, defect tracking, and validation of results.
  • Assist with the testing and rollout of new software or technology solutions to ensure system changes meet business requirements and compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers, technical teams and other business analysts to support project scoping, prioritization, and delivery activities.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders across the organization.
  • Facilitate meetings and workshops with stakeholders to gather requirements for assigned initiatives and provide updates on project progress.
  • Prepare analysis summaries, documentation, and reports for project teams and stakeholders.
  • Stay informed of relevant industry trends and emerging technologies to support continuous improvement.
  • Depending on the project, travel to Herzing University campuses and locations may be needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


This role is located in Milwaukee at Herzing University's downtown office. The Avenue Milwaukee space offers an arcade-like first floor with plenty of opportunities to have fun or relax including a food hall that's open Monday through Friday. Physical Requirements:



  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position most of the time.
  • Must be able to occasionally move around the work location.
  • Constantly operates office and/or teach equipment which may include computers, copiers, fax machines, audio/visuals.
  • Frequently uses voice and hearing to communicate with students, staff or colleagues face-to-face or over the telephone.
  • Visually or otherwise identify, observe and assess.
  • Occasionally move, carry, or lift 10 pounds.
