The Data Center Operations Technician III supports the operational integrity, security, and regulatory compliance of a colocation data center environment. This role is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting critical facility infrastructure, including mechanical and electrical systems that support continuous data center operations. The technician begins each shift with a structured handoff and manages tasks through a ticketing system, prioritizing maintenance activities, operational issues, and facility needs. The role involves hands-on work with building systems, coordinating vendor activities, and completing documentation related to maintenance procedures and work orders. This position requires strong knowledge of mechanical infrastructure, critical facility systems, and data center operating procedures. Job Responsibilities
Review shift handoff reports to maintain awareness of ongoing operational issues and tasks
Monitor and respond to facility-related tickets through the designated ticketing system
Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of critical facility systems and infrastructure
Support operation and maintenance of chilled water systems and associated components
Maintain HVAC equipment including rooftop units, CRAC units, CRAH units, humidification systems, and central plant systems
Conduct inspections of mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems to ensure operational reliability
Coordinate and oversee vendor maintenance activities and ensure adherence to approved procedures
Review and close out vendor documentation, including methods of procedure and maintenance records
Monitor environmental conditions and respond to facility alarms or alerts
Document maintenance activities and operational events in tracking systems
Follow established data center operating procedures to maintain reliability and compliance
Job Requirements
Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, telecommunications, and life safety systems within a data center or critical facility
Hands-on experience with chilled water systems and mechanical infrastructure
Experience supporting HVAC equipment including rooftop units, CRAC units, CRAH units, humidification systems, and central plant equipment
Familiarity with data center operating procedures and mission-critical environments
Experience coordinating vendors performing maintenance or repair work
Experience using ticketing or work order management systems
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to follow documented procedures and maintain accurate records
Ability to perform physical work related to facility infrastructure and equipment
