Mechanics Bank is currently searching for a Loan Servicing Specialist to join our team. Performs a wide variety of loan servicing tasks related to loan operations and/or processing, from minor to complex processes or functions. Proactively identifies issues or needed changes, recommends resolution, and participates in quality improvement efforts. Takes accountability for entire process from receipt of work to resolution and closure. Tasks require coordination of information among various operational areas and customers. Utilizes multiple system applications. Assists in multiple areas of department in the completion of duties as directed by management. What you will do:
Loan file management, to include scanning and retrieval of documents from various applications/sources that assist with production and audit requests. Resolves any loan exceptions or corrections, research payment issues and discrepancies. Provide callback support of processors daily work and tickler management as assigned. Provides prompt, courteous and excellent customer service to internal and external clients. Required to actively cooperate and interact with other departments to advance the overall interests of the bank. Other duties as assigned. May be responsible for various tasks/responsibilities in any or all of the following areas of concentration:
File Management (Scanning/filing) Department: Works with various loan documents both in-house and attorney drawn. Identifies and differentiates all types of loan documents to be scanned to the proper account. Organizes incoming documents from both title and interoffice mail, while updating reports to monitor documents received to keep track of the outstanding sets. Collateral Management (Paid Loans, perfection and release): With a general understanding of the loan pay off process, reviews and process loan pay offs. Manages the release of collateral and reviews paid off packages, to ensure all transactions and supporting documentation is completed accurately. May work with third party vendors such as VINTEK, CoreLogic, and First American Title to process cashier's checks. Insurance & Escrow Processing: With general knowledge loan servicing and regulatory requirements, works with a third party tracking vendor to complete insurance tracking as it relates to the lender placement of coverage, flood insurance tracking and setting up and maintaining escrow accounts for property taxes and insurance. Tasks include tracking, updating third party records, reviewing and working various reports and notices, lender force placement processing and refund processing. May handle tracking of flood insurance and escrow processing to include setting up new escrow accounts for property taxes and insurance, preparing initial disclosures and making timely disbursements for both property taxes and insurance. Transaction Processing: Has a general understanding of loan terminology and documentation pertaining to all collateral and loan types. Reviews and posts payments, prepares loan payoff demands, processes payoff funds, completes loan service requests, loan file maintenance as requested, GL balancing, Exception Monitoring, aged item reporting with monthly certification, and verification of mortgage (VOM) tasks. May be involved with Mortgage Electronic Registration System (MERS) related functions. Communicates with borrowers, answering general questions and reviewing documentation pertaining to most collateral and loan types. Callback and Boarding & Callback Processing: Demonstrates a basic understanding of loan documentation. Responsible for funding wire transactions, internally through.General Ledger and Deposit accounts, and from Title Company transactions. Boarding of some loan products including; unsecured, consumer-Mortgage and Home Equity loans. Investor Processing - Works with various investor agencies, including FarmerMac, FannieMae, SBA and USDA. Handles daily reporting and settlement required by various agencies. Interacts with each agency as needed; contributing to research and audit needs as requested.
Who you are:
High School or GED required. Minimum one year experience in Loan Servicing required. Experience in Fiserv Premier and Microsoft Office suite preferred. Loan servicing experience; general understanding of loan terminology. Proficiency with both Word and Excel. Familiar with systems such as Fiserv Premier, Mortgage Electronic Registration System (MERS), as well as other third party agencies, and vendors. Familiar with different investor agencies such as FarmerMac, FannieMae, SBA and USDA Possess excellent human relations, communications and business writing skills. Ability to work effectively with limited direct supervision. Ability to comprehend and interpret Bank policies and procedures. Possess effective time management and organizational skills. Demonstrates teamwork in facilitating workflow. High level of cooperation with others and is responsive to the Bank's needs. Exemplary motivation, enthusiasm, professionalism and team skills. Have high level of accuracy and great attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Demonstrates excellent customer service skills. Ability to cope with pressure resulting from meeting required deadlines, reporting requirements and training responsibilities. Exhibit high degree of professionalism and confidentiality in handling and having access to sensitive customer or employee information.
