Reporting to the Plant Finance Manager, the accounting analyst role will be centered on the integrity of plant-level financial data, ensuring that all manufacturing costs, inventory movements, and production activities are accurately captured and reported. You will bridge the gap between the plant floor and the corporate ledger, providing the technical accounting support necessary to maintain a high-performing production environment.

What's in it for you!

  • Partner closely with plant operations, department leaders, and corporate finance teams.
  • Serve as the plant's go-to finance expert, shaping decisions that affect daily production and long-term strategy.
  • Build a strong pathway toward future growth and expanded leadership opportunities within the finance organization

What You'll Do

  • Month-End Close Management: Lead the month-end closing process for the plant, including the preparation of journal entries, accruals, and detailed reconciliations of plant-related accounts.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Provide critical financial support during annual operating budget and forecast cycles by partnering with plant department managers to develop data-driven spending plans and production volume assumptions.
  • Performance Monitoring & Variance Analysis: Track and analyze monthly variances against Manufacturing Plant Expenses (MPE), Capital Expenditures (Capex), and SG&A budgets. Proactively identify significant deviations, investigate root causes, and partner with department heads to develop corrective action plans. Manage monthly sustainability reporting.
  • Inventory & Cost Accounting: Perform regular reconciliations of raw materials, GIP/WIP, and finished goods. Monitor cycle count results, investigate discrepancies, and manage the accounting for scrap and obsolete inventory.
  • Variance Reporting: Analyze and report on manufacturing variances (price, usage, and efficiency). Work closely with the operations team to explain deviations from standard costs and ensure accurate financial representation of plant performance.
  • Audit & Compliance: Ensure plant accounting practices comply with GAAP and internal controls (SOX). Prepare schedules and documentation for internal and external auditors as required.
  • Standard Cost Maintenance: Assist in the annual update of standard costs, including labor and overhead rate development within the SAP environment.
  • Internal Finance Liaison: Dedicated POC for plant leadership and department heads on all SAP financial matters; proactively resolving General Ledger coding errors, Cost Center discrepancies, and vendor payment hurdles to ensure smooth operational flow.

What will make you successful

  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to identify trends in financial data and provide clear, concise explanations for plant-level financial fluctuations.
  • Critical Thinking: Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of identifying root causes for financial variances and implementing corrective actions.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with plant managers, production supervisors, and corporate accounting teams.
  • Highly organized and capable of managing competing priorities-such as month-end close and ad-hoc plant requests
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced Microsoft Office skills, specifically Excel (Power Query, Pivot Tables).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. A CPA or CMA candidate is a plus.
  • Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing or industrial plant setting.
  • SAP Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of SAP ERP (specifically FI) is required. Experience with SAP S/4HANA is preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and data manipulation) and a solid understanding of cost accounting principles. Tableau and/or Power BI
