Engineer I, Quality


Position Profile:

A Quality Engineer is responsible for identifying and ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements and specifications, establishing or verifying process controls, and auditing for continued adherence to those requirements for Marotta products and processes. This role assists in supporting company goals for continuous improvement, customer satisfaction and mission success.


Essential / Primary Responsibilities:


  • Investigate, assess, and resolve production nonconformances while maintaining compliance with customer requirements.
  • Participates in Root Cause / Corrective Action (RCCA) activity and drives nonconformances to closure for non-MRB dispositions.
  • Experience in a design environment, reading and understanding schematics, data analysis.
  • Supports audits, both customer and internal.

    • Customer audits require management engagement/oversight.


  • Participates in First Article Inspections (FAI) and reviews the First Article Inspection Report (FAIR).
  • Communicates with customers both internal and external with management engagement/oversight.
  • Performs As Designed/As Built reports (ADABR).

    • An ADABR is a record of the final configuration of a product including all changes and deviations from the designed configuration.


  • Reviews material/special process certifications.


Additional Duties / Responsibilities:


  • May participate in continuous improvement activities and identify process deficiencies.
  • Participate in the performance of statistical analysis (AQL and SPC).
  • Abide by all safety, quality, housekeeping and company policies/procedures to ensure compliance with various regulatory and internal system requirements.
  • Consistently demonstrate commitment to company values.


Work Environment:


  • This job interacts both in a professional office environment and a manufacturing/machine shop environment. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, as well as environments inclusive of the appropriate eye, hearing and foot protection (as required).
  • This is a full-time position. Hours of work are 40 hours/week. Overtime and weekend work are required, as job duties demand.
  • Some travel may be expected for this position (up to 10%).


Physical Requirements:


  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision,
  • depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Vision and color vision must pass job-required vision screening
  • The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, and to use hands to finger, handle or feel
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, and move about the facility.
  • The employee may be required to lift and/or move items weighing up to 25 pounds.



Minimum Required Qualifications:


  • Understanding of quality tools such as fishbone diagrams, process maps, 8D methodology, 5-Why, 6S, etc.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related field of study
  • Ability to interpret Military, Commercial aircraft and Space level specifications and standards.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics and drawings
  • Knowledge of Quality Management System - AS9100, ISO9001, ISO/TS16949
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills required for multi-faceted interactions with internal and external customers
  • Strong computer literacy, with MS Office/PC expertise, and demonstrated experience with applicable systems, programs, equipment, etc.
  • This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance; therefore you must be able to obtain/maintain a security clearance



Preferred Qualifications:


  • Work experience in data analysis and procedure writing
  • Knowledge of Special Processes such as critical finishes, chemical conversion, soldering, crimping, non-destructive and destructive analysis methods
  • Knowledge of various material types and their properties, mainly metals and plastics
  • 0-2 years' experience in quality-related function (applicant may be a new college hire



This position is at our Montville, NJ office location.

Pay Range: $77,500 - $90,000/year

Your employment, both initially and continually thereafter, is conditioned on production of such proof of citizenship and/or any export license that may be required to comply with any and all applicable laws, regulations, or executive orders, or required by Federal, State, or local government contracts.
