Overview:

The Laboratory Protection Division (LPD) is seeking a detailed-oriented, customer focused professional for the position of Badging Specialist. This person will perform various tasks related to processing badge requests and activations for ORNL employees and subcontractors.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide badging support to employees, subcontractors, and visitors.
  • Support staff with badge issuance, renewals, activations, and deactivations.
  • Assist with identity verification and document review for badging in accordance with ORNL and DOE requirements.
  • Complete HSPD-12/PIV (UPIV) credential enrollment, activation, and issuance processes.
  • Capture biometric data (photographs, fingerprints) as required for credentialing.
  • Provide excellent customer service to employees, subcontractors, and visitors regarding badging procedures and requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in personnel security systems.
  • Act as the key point of contact for badging inquiries, providing prompt and effective support to staff and resolving related issues.
  • Maintains a consistent, reliable work schedule to meet needs of staff.
  • Assist with audits, file maintenance, and reporting activities.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and at least two years relevant experience.
  • Must be a US citizen.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Q clearance from the Department of Energy. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate/bachelor's degree in business management, liberal arts, or other related fields.
  • Working knowledge of and experience implementing DOE O 472.2,Personnel Security.
  • Working knowledge of new DOE O 472.2A,Personnel Security.
  • Working knowledge of company and personnel security policies and procedures.
  • Experience and efficiency in the current ORNL communications platform (i.e. Office 365 suite).
  • Experience and efficiency in database user functions.
  • Experience providing a high level of effective customer service.
  • Ability to work in a team environment to meet business goals
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever-changing needs.
  • Analytical skills and ability to interpret, communicate, and implement complex instructions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.

  • Strong organizational skills and accuracy in data entry.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
