To achieve this goal, theCHSE (Cloud Hardware Systems Engineering)team is instrumental in defining and delivering operational measures of success for hardware manufacturing, improving the planning process, quality, delivery,scaleand sustainability related to Microsoft cloud hardware. Responsibilities
  • Work with many Enterprise-classserversand networking technologies to create designs used to deployvery largescale BareMetal or Cloud hardware offerings.

  • Create configurationdocumentation usedtoprocure, manufacture, and deploy Servers, Racks, and Rows of hardware at scale.

  • Provide guidance to and work with System Integrators to build hardware designs infactoryas needed.

  • Interface with engineering development teams, gatherrequirementsand provide feedback on SKU design feasibility and constraints.

  • Communicate effectively across engineering groups and stakeholders to define priorities,schedulesand resources needed. Create andmaintaindashboards for project status.

  • Lead internal and external process improvements, create process documentation, and bring different and new perspectives to solving problems.

  • Partner with Engineering team members, businessgroupsand data center infrastructure engineering groups, to define goals for new platforms at Microsoft.

  • Partner with Sourcing, Supply Chain and Capacity Planning to ensure smooth handoff of server designs considering transition plans.

  • Provide cross functional subject matterexpertiseonsolutiondesign to broader virtual teams.

  • Monitor internal requests andestablishstandard processes to improveefficiencyand provide internal customer support.

  • Work independently to balance multiple tasks and competing priorities simultaneously.

  • Effectively run cross-organizational meetings to lead teams to consensus and/or decisions to meet deliverables.



Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 7+ years technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:
Abilityto meet Microsoft,customerand/or government security screening requirements arerequiredfor this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will berequiredto pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years of technical engineering experience OR Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience.

  • Experience working with Enterprise class server and networking hardware from multiple vendors in development, operations, or manufacturing (Dell, HPE, Cisco, Netapp, IBM, and others)

  • Understanding ofnetwork administration or logical network topology planning
  • Experience creating complex technical documentation used to configure enterprise hardware devices.

  • Understanding of Data center rack/row build out, air flow and other infrastructure constraints

  • Experience in managing Enterprise-level large-scale and complex projects/programs.

  • Ability to work independently, drive projects, and self-serve solutions.

  • Proven working knowledge of leading technology and best practices with configuration management and product data management.

  • Experience working with engineering, supply chain, capacity planning, sourcing, and datacenter teams.

  • Proven capabilities to drive positive business results through cross-group collaboration and partnerships.

  • Must be able toestablishmilestones, short- and long-term timelines, and drive the work plan, adapting as necessary in a rapidly evolving environment.

  • Proven communication skills, including the ability to clearly express technical concepts in verbal, concise logical presentation, and written forms.

  • Ability to interact with diverse technical and non-technical groups spanning all organizational levels.

  • Proven critical thinking, attention to detail, and resolution in sometimes ambiguous situations.

Hardware Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
