Job Description:

This individual will be responsible for setting the direction and providing thought leadership for Ryan Architecture and Engineering (A+E) and the Industrial Sector in conjunction with the Region and Division goals, including facilitating projects nationally across Ryan's Regions; collaborating with A+E Region Leaders, Development and Construction; and building & supporting a national team of designers in collaboration with the Region Leaders.

  • Work with Development and Construction on all aspects of Business development including leading proposal efforts and project interviews.

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with the local design community including AIA, DBA, Educational Institutions, Professional organizations, etc. Works with the National Marketing Director to identify award opportunities and manage submittal process

  • Work with team to design responsibly with a focus on sustainability and well-being. Develops strategies to enhance surrounding community and be a positive impact in the context of the immediate project

  • Responsible for achieving yearly profit expectations in collaboration with Region Leaders. Monitors and manages monthly sector financial reports

  • Responsible for strategic Sector Initiatives in conjunction with A+E Leadership, Region and Division

  • Actively participate in leadership meetings, department meetings and quarterly owner meetings

  • Sector responsibility, perform the following Sector responsibilities in partnership with the Ryan A+E Leadership, Region Leaders and Department Leaders: set the vision for the Sector design team; lead design team within the Sector including all professional and business activities; develop and maintain relationships with Development, Construction and third-party customers; in collaboration with Region leaders, is responsible for recruiting, maintaining and managing a Sector team of architects and designers; lead growth of the sector in support of Ryan's Thrive 25 initiative

  • Project Delivery, in collaboration with key partners and team members, confirm that each project has an effective project delivery approach: ensure appropriate internal staff and consultant resources are identified, selected, contracts negotiated, and workload managed in timely manner for each phase of the project; ensure approvals are in place and documented for each design phase, including owner, AHJ approvals and company approvals such as Owner Authorization to Proceed; ensure project internal reviews and coordination are occurring (QA/QC, VDC, Specifications, cross-discipline); ensure Design Project Management Checklist is being followed and completed for all projects and phases; ensure successful design meetings, owner/client meetings and project team meetings are occurring; ensure project teams are clearly documenting and communicating scope and design decisions; ensure an effective, appropriate and reasonable design schedule is developed; design schedule to be communicated, monitored and adjusted appropriately for each design phase; ensure that deliverables are identified, agreed upon and executed for each phase in accordance with the overall project schedule; responsible for signing/sealing drawings and specifications; manage financial health of project monthly; ensure revenue and expense contracts are in place at the start of the project; manage monthly revenue and expense invoicing

  • Perform tasks with a high level of collaboration and sets an example for others to follow

  • Establish and pursue annual goals; based on personal, professional and company growth in the industry

  • Contribute to Ryan culture through participation in office activities, initiatives and learning programs

  • Responsible for staff development including leading, managing and mentoring staff

  • Responsible for execution of Ryan's yearly review and goal setting process based on personal, professional, departmental and company initiatives including Thrive 25 and A+E yearly goals

To be successful in this role, you must have relevant professional work experience with a proven track record of managing multiple projects, including complex projects of $50M. A professional architecture degree (bachelor's or master's in architecture) and architecture licensure is required. You must have excellent organizational and communication skills, along with an understanding of development, construction, design, workload, and resource management. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is expected.

You will really stand out if you have:

  • At least 15 years of relevant experience preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of Excel, Procore, Deltek and other project management software.

  • Bluebeam knowledge.

  • LEED AP, WELL Accredited Professional and/or PMP Certification.

  • Expertise in one of Ryan A+E's core sectors (Healthcare, Industrial, Senior Living, Multifamily, or Office)
